Proper unit commitment is needed to acquire the generator scheduling plan with minimum total operating cost while also meeting the fuel contracts. Genetic algorithm based on priority list approach is used to solve unit commitment problem. Unit commitment without fuel constraint is simulated to obtain total operating cost and to check whether fuel used by take or pay units meet the constraint or not. Unit commitment with fuel constraint is solved by two methods: adding a constraint to the genetic algorithm and repairing power dispatch, especially in Lagrange function. This simulation is tested on a study case 25-unit system which consists of 10 take or pay units. Simulation results from unit commitment without and with fuel constraint is compared. Unit commitment with fuel constraint using repaired dispatch produces more optimum power output combination with better total operating cost.","PeriodicalId":101856,"journal":{"name":"2016 6th International Annual Engineering Seminar (InAES)","volume":"222 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122936786","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The parameters of the dynamic system that changes with time lead to a conventional feedback control system is not able to maintain control. This is caused by circumstances which are nonlinear and receive many disturbance so that the transient response of the system to be less precise and accurate to the desired steady state conditions. To overcome these problems, this paper presents an adaptive control system which can cope with the change of the dynamic DC motor system. The adaptive control system used is Model Reference Adaptive Control (MRAC) which contain four part. They are reference model, adaptation mechanism, plant, and control law. We designs DC motor plant by using Simscape in Simulink. An ideal response for reference model is designed by modeling the dynamic DC motor. Design of an adaptation mechanism with MIT rule and control law with Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) controller are present. It can affect the response of adaptive control system and matching the desired ideal response from reference model even when the system receives a disturbance.","PeriodicalId":101856,"journal":{"name":"2016 6th International Annual Engineering Seminar (InAES)","volume":"251 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134361426","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of the research is to find the optimal power increase can be generated in counter rotating wind turbines model (CRWT) related with variety of axial distance between front rotor and rear rotor. The study consisted of the design and testing of wind turbines model. The design of CRWT model was using parameters based on the related CRWT literature from previous researches both experimental and simulation studies. The study was experimental observation directly on the object of study. The independent variable is the variation of the wind speed of 2.0 m/s, 3.0 m/s and 4.2 m/s as well as a comparison between two rotors axial distance to the front rotor diameter of 0.44; 0.61 and 0.70. The study result shows that the greatest power generated of counter rotating wind turbines model located in axial distance ratio of 0.61 for the three variations of wind speed. The power generated at the axial distance ratio of 0.61 is equal to 0.1532 watts for wind speed 2.0 m/s, 0.2517 watt for wind speed 3.0 m/s and 0.3488 watt for wind speed 4.2 m/s. For axial distance ratio of 0.61, the power coefficient is equal to 0.263 for the wind speed 2.0 m/s, the power coefficient of 0.128 for the wind speed 3.0 m/s, and the power coefficient 0.065 for the wind speed 4.2 m/s.","PeriodicalId":101856,"journal":{"name":"2016 6th International Annual Engineering Seminar (InAES)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129845663","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Electrical devices in the campus building commonly will be used in accordance with the schedule of room usage. In this paper, we proposed an indoor electrical device control system, which is able to adapt to the kinds of activities and the number of people. The system consists of controller layer and automation layer. Controller layer is software that is integrated with Google Calendar and automation layer is related with hardware infrastructure for controlling. Agendas stored in Google Calendar will be a trigger for those controlled electrical devices. The developed system was given with two kinds of tests, i.e., performance and functionality test. The performance test was applied by measuring the response time when turning the device on/off. The test showed that the average response time needed to turn it on was 2,28 seconds and to turn it off was 2,32 seconds. The result from functionality test showed the capability of the system to control electrical devices in accordance with the kinds of activities and the number of the occupants.","PeriodicalId":101856,"journal":{"name":"2016 6th International Annual Engineering Seminar (InAES)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114164788","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Treating supply chain system as a network give a good advantages since there are a lot of method in network theory that can be applied to give a quantitative measurement. In turns, by applying network theory in supply chain, analyst can come up with better description and representation of their supply chain. This study tried explore a concept of community structure in network theory to identify the groups of suppliers, manufactures, distributors, retailers and customer which is highly connected each other and at the same time get a valuable representation of the large supply chain network. We argued that supply chain network is differ from the common network in which the network analysis commonly works onto, thus the method for detecting community will also became different. Hence, in this paper we addressing a method for detecting community of highly connected firms in supply chain/supply chain network by grouping the node/firm based on their complete flow/chain or commodity flow for short.","PeriodicalId":101856,"journal":{"name":"2016 6th International Annual Engineering Seminar (InAES)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121695903","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the cultivation of eels enlargement, there are several factors that affect the growth of eels, such as water salinity (salt content in water), temperature, Dissolved Oxygen, current speed, acidity, and quality of water (or the microbial content of contaminants). This work, focuses on control and monitoring of water quality for eel aquaculture, by using 3 sensors, i.e. temperature, acidity (pH), and Dissolved Oxygen (DO) and will be done by fuzzy logic algorithm. The output of the fuzzy logic controller is to decide the time interval of switches that run the blower and nano-mixing pump simultaneously to keep the eel fish aquaculture at the desired value for parameter temperature, pH, and Dissolved Oxygen.","PeriodicalId":101856,"journal":{"name":"2016 6th International Annual Engineering Seminar (InAES)","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125111971","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
