In this paper, we discuss the environmental assessment of a transmission line in northern Labrador, Canada. Specifically we demonstrate the importance of the Precautionary Principle as a sustainability change mechanism in the project assessment for engineers and engineering firms. Through using the Precautionary Principle as a change and risk management mechanism, proponents such as natural resources companies and project engineers may better reach sustainability, corporate social responsibility as well as ethics strategies, objectives and goals.","PeriodicalId":101738,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Symposium on Ethics in Science, Technology and Engineering","volume":"336 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115228395","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
