Initial evaluation revealed tachycardia, tachypnea, basal crackles, and peripheral edema. Laboratory findings included mild anemia and elevated B-type natriuretic peptide/N-terminal prohormone of brain natriuretic peptide levels. Diagnostic imaging confirmed cardiomegaly and reduced left ventricular ejection fraction. Diagnosis of peripartum cardiomyopathy was established. Management involved breastfeeding-compatible heart failure medications and patient-centered education. This case underscores the importance of early recognition and individualized management of peripartum cardiomyopathy to improve outcomes in postpartum women.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":101233,"journal":{"name":"The Journal for Nurse Practitioners","volume":"21 9","pages":"Article 105498"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-08-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"144890699","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
