The electrical resistivity (<em>ρ</em>) was measured in the temperature range of 200–700<!--> <span>°C and was found to decrease with an increase in temperature ensuring the semiconducting nature of the prepared ferrites. The corresponding activation energies for conduction were obtained from the plot of log </span><em>ρ</em> vs. 1000/<em>T</em> for all of the compositions, which display two slopes of separate regions. It was found that the activation energy was higher in the paramagnetic region than in the ferromagnetic region. From Tafel slopes, it is evident that the anodic reaction is more polarized. Impedance study reveals that the increase in </span><em>R</em><sub>ct</sub> values can be attributed to the formation of a protective film and the decrease in <em>C</em><sub>dl</sub> values is due to an increase in the thickness of the electrical double layer. Mo, V, Zr, Cr, Fe, Al, Si and O were the principle determinants of beta transus. The ‘</span><em>r</em><sup>2</sup><span>’ (92.0% vs. 90.7%) and mean predicted error [training (1.4% vs. 2.8%) and testing (2% vs. 2.4%)] pattern in ANN and MLR models suggest superior performance of ANN model. Multifactor dimensionality reduction analysis showed interactions among Al, O and Cr, which were confirmed by the ANN model. The role of ambience, microwave H-field, duration of interaction with microwaves and germanium concentration in the starting precursor have been investigated.
