This paper describes the development of a technique to detect the gaze direction of a driver during driving by the time-varying image processing. In this method, the facial direction and the gaze direction can be detected separately. Therefore, the effect of surface texture on traction performance was studied using a two-roller tester. It was found that improving the surface texture increased the traction coefficient without increasing metal contact. We first examine a technique to detect the water on the road surface. The extraction of the water on the road is made with the technique which obtains the property of the polarization from the image. The crashworthiness and injury parameters in both tests were examined. Scores in both crash tests are strongly affected by chest and tibia injury criteria. Some cars score well on both tests, while others have poor scores in the offset impact tests because of the large intrusion into the </span></span>passenger compartment.
