This fact is due to the inherent consequences that the damage in cognitive and motoric functions.</p><p>The approach to a patient with a brain injury, perfectly matches those in a transdisciplinar treatment, which is composed by different areas: physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech therapy, Clinical Psychologist, Medicine, etc.</p><p>The International Classification Functioning, Disability and Health, developed by World Health Organization, uses an unified standard language, which allows the universal communication about health and sanitary attention between the different approaches. It is based on two different conceptual models (sanitary and social) that have been used to understanding functioning and disability.</p><p>This report describes, throughout an observational analysis, the advantages and disadvantages in the application of the Classification in a single case. We realized that the structured and systematic use of this classification enhances the patient description from a “biopsicosocial” view. Therefore, it helps to classificate the cognitive and motoric issues what are damaged (body functions and structures) and also the functional problems that belongs to that alteration (activities and participation). Moreover, it classificates the person environmental characteristics which have a positive or negative influence in his/her autonomy (environmental factors). There are many empirical results that support the view of it's great relevance, though there are authors that refuse this view. These authors, in a conexionist frame, consider morphology as a mere epiphenomenon, resulting from the semantic and phonological overlap that all morphological families imply. In the group of authors that consider the importance of morphological process in lexical access, there are many divergences. This divergences focus on their different ways for explaining the experimental results; time course of process and contextual circumstances that facilitate morphological process are the two more important sources of discussion. In this work we present and discuss experimental evidence supporting visual lexical access driven by sublexical-morphological information of polimorphemic words -made by and suffix and a stem-. {"title":"Jergafasia: caso clínico","authors":"Laura Martín Barragán, Natalia Ordóñez del Río","doi":"10.1016/S1137-8174(10)70036-4","DOIUrl":"10.1016/S1137-8174(10)70036-4","url":null,"abstract":"<div><p>This article makes a brief review of the main questions to be considered in the evaluation and treatment of patients suffering from Wernicke aphasia, specially focused on aphasic jargon as a particular symptom of this type of aphasia.</p><p>Three main questions to be highlighted refer to, first, the reduced effectiveness of standard tests and the need for them to be adapted on a case by case basis, making it difficult to conduct objective quantitative studies of patients evolution. Secondly, it's important to consider communication as a complex act comprising different elements which have to be managed, as there are many cases in which the treatment is focused and isolated on the sender –the aphasic patient– ignoring the rest of elements which can help to improve the communication process between patient and his/her environment.
