SY was efficiently extracted from selected liquid dosage forms using Brij 98 as a non-ionic surfactant in Micelle MediatedCloud Point Extraction (MM-CPE) method. Simple, accurate, and precise colorimetric methods like the calibration curve method and single point standardization method were developed and validated for the quantification of SY in liquid dosage forms. MM-CPE method was found to be highly efficient with good recovery rates for SY in samples and optimized for parameters like pH, the effect of salt, surfactant concentration, incubation time, and temperature. The colorimetric method showed good linearity from 3-18 μg/ml (R2=0.9995) for SY at absorption maxima of 482nm. The method was found to be precise (%RSD <2) and accurate (±10% limit). The assay values for the samples Ascoril (5ml) and P-125 drops (1 ml) were found to be 0.05 and 0.671 mg for the calibration curve method and 0.051 & 0.675 mg for the single point standardization method respectively. The developed methods were validated as per International council for Harmonisation (ICH) guidelines. The content of SY obtained is then compared with the allowable daily intake (ADI) value referred by European Union (EU) and World Health Organisation/Food and Agriculture Organisation (WHO/FAO) [0-4 mg/kg/b.w.]. The level of SY in sample dosage forms was par below the ADI limits and considered to be safe.","PeriodicalId":9833,"journal":{"name":"Chemical Science and Engineering Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89244825","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Adsorption isotherm models were mainly used to elucidate the inhibition mechanism of ethanolic extract of Citrus sinensis seeds in 0.5 M HCl. Surface morphology of pipeline steel before and after inhibition were studied by scanning electron microscope (SEM). Results obtained showed that Citrus sinensis seed extract inhibited pipeline steel corrosion in 0.5 M HCl environment. The corrosion inhibition efficiency increased with increased concentration of the Citrus sinensis seed extract and decreased with raise in environmental temperature in the acidic medium. The corrosion inhibition data fitted better into Freundlich adsorption model, while the presence of the extract gave a smoother corrosion surface morphology.","PeriodicalId":9833,"journal":{"name":"Chemical Science and Engineering Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75741093","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Corrosion of mild steels occurs when it exposes to aggressive environment. Numerous corrosion inhibitors are developed for the control of corrosion of metals and alloys. Compounds containing N, S and O are most studied due their higher inhibition ability. Particularly in recent years, heterocyclic compounds have attracted huge attention due its simple preparation and superior corrosion inhibition activity towards mild steel in acidic environments. Therefore, the aim of the present review is to highlight the recent work carried out using heterocyclic compounds and its derivatives for steel protection in different corrosive environments. In addition, heterocyclic compounds reported for the corrosion inhibition of steel in CO 2 saturated brine environment are also highlighted. Detail mechanisms involved in the inhibition processes are also discussed.","PeriodicalId":9833,"journal":{"name":"Chemical Science and Engineering Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91254479","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
