{"title":"A case report of Olanzapine induced DRESS Syndrome","authors":"Prosenjit Ghosh, Ankur Bhattacharya","doi":"10.30877/ijmh.9.1.2022.103-106","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.30877/ijmh.9.1.2022.103-106","url":null,"abstract":"DRESS syndrome (Drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms) is defined as a drug-induced complex of symptoms consisting of fever, rash, lymphadenopathy, eosinophilia and a wide range of mild to severe systemic presentations. Here we report a case of a 24-year-old female who developed a severe generalized Anasarca, skin erythema, facial puffiness, reddish discoloration over the body, fever, eosinophilia, leukocytosis and hepatitis 30 days after ingestion of olanzapine. Considering the occurrence of fever, eosinophilia, enlarged lymph nodes, typical skin rash and internal organ involvement, a ‘’ Probable diagnosis “of DRESS syndrome was made using the RegiSCAR Criteria. DRESS induced by psychotropic medications have been scarcely reported. Extensive reporting and educating clinicians as well as patients regarding DRESS will lead to decreased morbidity as well as mortality. Methodology: A sample of 100 young adults participated in the study. Family environment scale and Self-regulation scale was used to measure the variables. Results: The result indicated that there is significant relationship between cohesion and competitive framework, moral orientation and recreational orientation, organization and expression, organization, and moral orientation at 0.01 level. There was significant relationship between independence and expression, independence, and organization at 0.05 level. Self-regulation had correlation with competitive framework at 0.05 level and self-regulation also had correlation with cohesion at 0.01 level.
