In several morphological characters, it resembles <i>J. ixtlania</i>, a widespread species that occurs in several states to the northwest of Guerrero. A key is presented to distinguish these two species. Images of the holotype and macromorphological features of <i>J. guerrerensis</i> are provided. The species inhabits inselberg forests and differs from all other species of <i>Siphoneugena</i> by the following exclusive combination of morphological characters: relatively long petioles, leaf blades chartaceous with midvein canaliculate adaxially, inflorescences in racemes with a markedly compressed and indistinguishable main axis, hypanthium markedly constricted above the ovary, calyx calyptrate, ovaries with two locules, each with four ovules, and cotyledons densely covered with foveolate glands. We herein provide taxonomic notes, morphological plates (derived from both fresh and dried material), and a distribution map. It is morphologically similar to <i>A. wardii</i> and <i>A. bracteatus</i>, but differs from the former by its small (3–5 mm long) boat-like bracts, narrowly ovate or triangular calyx lobes, 1–8 flowered inflorescences, and turbinate staminodes. It differs from the latter by caducous green bracts, short peduncles (0.2–0.8 cm long), and narrowly ovate or triangular green calyx lobes. A detailed description of the new species with color photographs and a comparison to similar species are provided. This species has morphological affinities with <i>M</i>. <i>weberbaueri</i> and <i>M</i>. <i>splendens</i>. A key for the identification of other related species is presented, accompanied by a comparative table of diagnostic morphological characters. Entre los atributos morfológicos que distingue esta especie nueva de entre sus congéneres es la pubescencia densa, con tricomas largos, que cubre los ramúsculos, los pecíolos y el envés de las láminas foliares, así como por la ausencia de tricomas en las bractéolas y los sépalos. A new species from South Brazil was discovered during a taxonomic revision of the genus and is formally described as <b><i>Collaea caerulea</i></b>. This species is found in a small area of Santa Catarina State, near the border with Paraná State, in regenerating secondary forests. It can be differentiated from other species from South Brazil by the combination of narrowly elliptical leaflets with an acuminate apex and bluish-lilac to bluish petals. The region where the species was discovered has only been recently explored by botanists and its natural vegetation is currently highly fragmented. Considering these factors, we propose that this species be classified as critically endangered. Here, we present a morphological description, geographical distribution, preliminary conservation assessment, and illustrations of the new species.
