More than 50 % of women report that they suffer from sexual dysfunctions, the most significant of which is pain, which can subsequently be associated with stress, anxiety, depression and partner discomfort. In our study, we focused on evaluating these symptoms. A total of 92 patients with endometriosis were included in the study. Clinical examinations were focused on biochemical analysis of cortisol and prolactin, as important hormones that can respond to stress, anxiety and depressive symptoms. At the same time, sexual function, stress, anxiety and depressive symptoms were psychometrically evaluated in these patients. Positive correlations were found between psychosocial trauma/stress and results from the sexual function questionnaire (R=0.30). Furthermore, positive correlations were evaluated between the results of Beck's questionnaire for assessing depression and prolactin (R=0.39) and also between the results of Beck's questionnaire for assessing depression and the anxiety test (R=0.33). We also found a high correlation between prolactin and anxiety (R=0.86). All results were confirmed by the Mann-Whitney test. These results represent important findings regarding the relationship of certain stress hormones, with sexual dysfunction and symptoms related to stress, anxiety and depression in women with endometriosis, which are still receiving little attention within endometriosis.","PeriodicalId":92215,"journal":{"name":"International clinical pathology journal","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41602972","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It assessed the knowledge of pregnant mothers on the impact of Pre-eclampsia and eclampsia on pregnancy, it also identified the factors responsible for prevalence of pre-eclampsia and eclampsia among pregnant mothers. Furthermore, it assesses the level of perception of pregnant mothers on pre-eclampsia and eclampsia. The relationship between level of education and knowledge of pre-eclampsia, and eclampsia as well as the relationship between level of education and perceived effect of eclampsia were assessed. A cross-sectional descriptive design was employed using a semi structured questionnaire to gather information from 100 women with at least one child. An accidental sampling procedure was employed, and data was collected using interviewer administered questionnaire. Analysis of data was done using appropriate descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. The results of the study revealed that about 47% of the respondents are of age 20 to 30 years while 46% are of age 31 to 40years and 7% are of age 41years and above. Also, 85% of the respondents were married while 15% were single. 80% of the respondents had tertiary education, 16% had secondary while 4% had primary education. The study also determines the factors that facilitate the organisms among the studied groups and possible interaction between the prevalence of infection and the risk factors. These were done with a view to providing baseline information on the mode of T. gondii and HIV transmission. Sera were analyzed for the presence of IgG and IgM antibodies against T. gondii by commercially available enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kit (Demeditec Diagnostics GmbH, Germany) conducted according to the manufacturer’s instructions. The optical densities of wells were measured by a photometer at a wavelength of 450 nm and the detection of HIV was done using (Determine) rapid immunochromatographic (IC) test which are in strip form. Determination of the blood groups of the donors was done using commercially prepared Anti sera A, B, AB and anti D that determine the Rhesus blood group. The overall prevalence of T. gondii among the women of child-bearing age in selected six communities in Osun state was 74.2%, while the overall prevalence of HIV among the women was 2.6% and co-infection of T. gondii and HIV was 1.5%. The prevalence of T. gondii was lowest (57.8%) among women from Ile Ife, a peri-urban community and highest (100%) in women residing in Alajue, a rural community. The prevalence of T. gondii infection was significantly higher (p= 0.001) among Islamic women (85.9%) than in Christian women (68.2%) while the prevalence of HIV (2.7%) in Christianity and co-infection of T. gondii and HIV (2.3%) was higher among Islam. The highest prevalence of T. gondii (83.6%) was recorded in women with primary education while the lowest of (58.7%) was recorded in women with tertiary education (p =0.037) while the highest prevalence of HIV infection of 2.9% and co-infection of 1.8% was recorded in secondary school level. The highest prevalence of T. gondii (78.5%) was recorded in women that reside in rural area and the lowest (67.5%) was recorded in women that reside in peri-urban area (p=0.016) and also the prevalence of HIV (4.5%) (p= 0.045) and co-infection of T. gondii and HIV (3.2%) (p=0.025) was higher in peri-urban area. The highest prevalence of 84.0% of T. gondii was recorded in house wives while the lowest value of 59.3% was recorded in civil servant and the highest prevalence of HIV infection of 7.7% in house wives and co-infection of 3.3% was recorded in trading. The highest prevalence of T. gondii infection of 100.0% was recorded in women with blood group AB negative while the lowest prevalence of 30.0% was recorded in women with blood group A negative and the highest prevalence of HIV infection of 6.3% was recorded in women with blood group B negative and O negative each. There are various conventional methods for the diagnosis of tubercular lym- phadenopathy with some newer methods like GeneXpert Assay recently introduced. This study emphasizes the role of newer diagnostic methods and a detailed clinicopathological profile of paediatric patients. Methods: This was a four-year prospective study including a total of 512 children under 13 years who were clinically suspected of tubercular lymphadenopathy were included. FNAC followed by ZN staining, Modified bleach method, MTP 64 Antigen testing, Ge - neXpert MTB/RIF Assay analysis and Culture was performed on the adequate samples and studies of comparison were done. Results: Sensitivity, specificity and diagnostic accuracy of different methods were com - pared and GeneXpert outshined the other method of diagnosis with a sensitivity of 93.1%, specificity of 100 % and diagnostic accuracy of 97.5%. In order to develop a quantitative quality planning in the serological screening of seven infectious markers in blood donations, a cross-sectional, study was conducted. Methods: We performed the quality design in Bio-Rad’s xMark microplate spectrophotometer by ELISA for HBsAG, anti-HIV, HTLV-1/2, SYPHILIS and HBcAb; and CHAGAS, and HCV with Bio-Rad and Biokit antibodies, respectively. The guide CLSI EP-12 was used to evaluate the imprecision for each marker. The minimal concentration for each marker from a seropositive asymptomatic donor registered on e-Delphyn® was used to determine the quality requirements, the sigma metric, and the ΔSE. Results: The values found by the sigma metric calculi were 7, 7, 4, 4, 5 and 4 for anti-HIV, HBcAb, HBsAg, HCV, HTLV-1/2, SYPHILIS and CHAGAS, respectively. All Ped near 0.90 had 0.03 or less. The quality control procedures for the qualitative ELISA guarantee a good sensibility. With the statistic control cards, it was possible to select rules with high Ped and low Pfr for each serological marker. Endemic in Southeast Asia and northern Australia. It mainly affects adults with risk factors for the disease. The data are limited to the pediatric population. Case report: 6-year-old male patient. Current condition: It is sudden on set with a fever of 39°C and 40°C, with no predominance of time, accompanied by right parietal headache. For cerebrospinal fluid results, compatible with meningeal tuberculosis, treatment for tuberculosis is initiated. With positive cerebrospinal fluid culture to Burkholderia pseudomallei, treatment for tuberculosis are suspended and Meropenem and Trimethoprim with Sulfamethoxazole are given. The patient dies the day after the specific treatment is started. Postmortem infection is confirmed by Burkholderia Pseudomallei, with a cerebrospinal culture and blood culture. Discussion: It is worth highlighting the importance of improving awareness and recognition of Melioidosis.","PeriodicalId":92215,"journal":{"name":"International clinical pathology journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-02-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48251315","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This view is so deeply rooted among both experts and the general public that it can be almost comparable to a dogma of faith. It is not surprising that it is also a subject of never-ending fight between advocates of various forms of vegetarianism and advocates for eating meat. We are trying to answer the question of who is right; or is the truth somewhere in the middle? What exactly are prebiotics? A common definition suggests that prebiotic is an indigestible part of food, which supports growth or activity of intestinal micro flora and, therefore, improves health status of the consumer. The first prebiotic in our life is lactose. Vegetable-based prebiotics appear in our food later. They provide no energy for the organism, but serve as a substrate for intestinal microbiota, support peristaltic, adsorb water, and bind cholesterol and lipids.","PeriodicalId":92215,"journal":{"name":"International clinical pathology journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-02-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45471247","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
