The growth and function of the nasal, nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal cavities are associated with normal skull growth. Objective: To make a review of the literature on the Orthognathic Surgery and the efeitos nas vias aéreas superiores em pacientes Classe II. Methods: A total of 58 articles were found involving mesh terms about Orthognathic Surgery. Initially, it was held the exclusion existing title and duplications following the interest described this work. After this process, the summaries were evaluated, and a new exclusion was held. 33 articles were included and discussed in this study. Results and conclusion: The results of the present study provided promising and effective results of the main effects of orthognathic surgery in the upper airways in Class II patients. However, complications may occur. Attention is drawn to the fragility points, to encourage compulsory and detailed recording of the occurrence of complications, as well as the elaboration of a protocol to monitor its evolution. *Correspondence to: Idiberto José Zotarelli Filho, MSc, PhD, Unipos Post graduate and continuing education, Street Ipiranga, 3460, São José do Rio Preto SP, Brazil 15020-040, Tel: +55(17) 98166-6537; E-mail: m.zotarelli@gmail.com","PeriodicalId":91065,"journal":{"name":"Dental, oral, and craniofacial research","volume":"111 4 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89398353","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among these species, Candida parapsilosis sensu stricto plays a major part both locally and systemically. Evidence shows that it may be the second most frequent yeast isolate, after Candida albicans, as commensal in the oral cavity and as pathogen in blood cultures of patients diagnosed with fungemia. Recent reports suggest that both its distribution and its virulence may be affected by environmental conditions and may increase in situations of oral dysbiosis. Based on this background, we hypothesize that oral mucosa in pathological condition may be a source of candidemia by Candida parapsilosis sensu stricto, when promoted by the conditions in the host. We reviewed the scientific databases in search of evidence which may support such hypothesis. *Correspondence to: Rodríguez ML, University of Buenos Aires, School of Medicine, Institute of Research in Microbiology, Parasitology and Inmunology (IMPaM), Mycology Center. Regulation of bone homeostasis is important for orthodontic treatments, oral implant, treatment for periodontal disease, osteonecrosis of the jaw and so on. Individual Plectin isoforms have different roles. To reveal the roles of Plectin in osteoclasts, we examined the expression levels of Plectin isoforms and found the isoforms regulating actin organization are highly expressed in osteoclasts. *Correspondence to: Takuma Matsubara, Division of Molecular Signaling and Biochemistry, Department of Health Improvement, Kyushu Dental University, 2-6-1, Manazuru, Kitakyushu, Fukuoka, 8038580, Japan, Tel: +81-93-285-3049, Fax: +81-93-582-6000, E-mail: r15matsubara@fa.kyu-dent.ac.jp Received: February 01, 2019; Accepted: February 15, 2019; Published: February 18, 2019 Introduction Osteoclasts are one of the major player for bone resorption and regulate bone remodeling to maintain bone homeostasis [1,2]. Activation of osteoclastic bone resorption in comparison with bone formation by osteoblasts results in bone metabolic diseases such as osteoporosis and periodontal disease [3-5]. Moreover, the function of osteoclasts is important in orthodontic treatments, oral implant treatment and pathogenesis of osteonecrosis of the jaw [6-9]. Thus, regulation of osteoclasts is one of the serious themes for improvement of various dental treatments. Osteoclasts are differentiated from hematopoietic stem cells with macrophage colony stimulating factor (M-CSF) and Receptor activator NF-κB ligand (RANKL) stimulation [1,2]. Attachment and sealing of bone matrix by differentiated osteoclasts is essential for bone resorption [10,11]. Actin, tubulin and intermediate filaments are dynamically organized and forms actin ring that is consistent with actin dots called podosomes in cell periphery for attachment and sealing [12-15]. It is well known that the mice defect actin ring formation by knocking out a tyrosine kinase Src are osteopetrosis because of decrease of bone resorbing activity [16,17]. This indicates Src is one of the key molecules to regulate bone resorption. We identified a cytolinker protein Plectin as a partner of Src and organize actin ring formation in osteoclasts [13]. Plectin was highly expressed in brain, heart, skeletal muscle and TRAP(+) MNCs [13,14,18,19]. Plectin has 13 isoforms and there role is a little different each other [18]. This suggests Plectin variants plays different roles in each tissue. Here, we explore the important isoforms of Plectin in osteoclasts.
