Most people infected with COVID-19 show mild to moderate symptoms and recover without specific treatment. According to the monitoring results of the Lampung Provincial government, patients with Covid-19 cases in Lampung until June reached 57110 people. Patients with Covid-19 cases in Central Lampung until June 2022 reached 4,549 people. The main thing we need to know is that we will easily catch the Covid-19 virus if our immune system decreases. One alternative to increase the body's immunity is to take a spice steam bath or often referred to as an archipelago spice sauna. The Nusantara Spice Sauna is a therapy that uses warm steam as a medium. People undergoing this therapy will be placed in specially designed cubicles. This research was conducted in Gunung Sugih, Central Lampung Regency, RSUD Demang Island Raya from July – August 2021. The study used a simple randomized method for the number of Covid-19 patients. The main variables are counting the number of patients exposed to the Covid-19 virus and counting the number of patients who experience changes after taking the archipelago spice steam bath. For this experiment, the number of samples was 30 people who were exposed to the Covid-19 virus. In the fourth week, many patients have experienced a change for the better. Both in terms of health (negative Covid-19) and psychology. It is suspected, with the steam bath of Nusantara spices, the patient will excrete toxins in the body through sweat. In addition, the spice steam contains essential oils (essential oils) that can cleanse the internal organs of the body (detox). The warm steam also produces aromatherapy which increases the relaxing effect. reduce stress levels and increase body immunity so that the body is exposed to the Covid-19 virus. Restructuring of extension system has also leaded the way to multiple challenges in achieving the goals and vision of various strategies and plans. The paper discusses the emerging issues and challenges of agricultural extension service delivery in the changing institutional and policy context. Through an integrative review of literatures, the paper discusses the prospects of agricultural extension service system in federal context and highlights the gaps in current extension service delivery mechanism. The paper concluded that with the implementation of federal system based on the rule of law, federal governance, balanced power-sharing and values, it has opened up an opportunity for making agricultural policies at the province and local government level and thus promoting the participatory, demand driven agriculture planning and implantation. However, Nepalese agriculture extension service delivery has been facing difficulties in transforming itself in the changed context due to lack of the coordination between the layers of government, niche- based expertise, long term visualization and capitals. There are very few studies and research regarding the structural reorganization of extension system in Nepal. In this context the paper aims to identify the background, prospects and challenges faced by agricultural extension system of Nepal in federal context.","PeriodicalId":89696,"journal":{"name":"Journal of the Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science","volume":"25 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81708900","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Purposively selected twenty-four Lapsi entrepreneurs in Falewash Municipality, Parbat district were interviewed with a well-structured questionnaire that explored Lapsi production data in the last twelve years, which were then processed and analysed with descriptive statistics using computer software MS-Excel 2010. The average landholding size of the respondent farm households was 17.6 Ropani (0.88 ha), and 1 8% of the land was occupied by Lapsi. However, 95% of the Lapsi orchard is established in Pakho/Bari (Upland). A majority (66.7%) of the Lapsi growers were trained either for cultivation, grafting and/or processing techniques. The Lapsi productivity in Falewash, Parbat (12.7 Mt/ha) is above the national average (8 Mt/ha). A Lapsi orchard in Falewash, Parbat can be established with investing NRs. 3,762.89 per Ropani. The average annual operating cost of Lapsi orchard is NRs. 2,052.19 per Ropani, whereas the average annual gross return is NRs.15,890.57 per Ropani. The benefit-cost ratio (BCR) of 2.84, net present value (NPV) of NRs. 30,146.3 and internal rate of return (IRR) of 33% signify the economic importance of Lapsi production. Pay-Back period of eight years in Lapsi production enterprise requires a long-term plan to be established as a cash-generating enterprise. The major problems in the Lapsi production are harvesting difficulty and damage by wild animals (mostly monkeys) whereas the poor transportation facility and inadequate market information are the major marketing constraints.","PeriodicalId":89696,"journal":{"name":"Journal of the Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science","volume":"2 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81375902","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Randomized complete block design with four replications and nine treatment combinations, including three doses of boron (1.7, 1.1, and 0.5 Kg/ha) and three doses of Nitrogen (260, 200, and 140 Kg/ha) were used in the trial. In the case of Nitrogen application, biological yield, soil organic matter, soil nitrogen, and leaf boron were recorded maximum from nitrogen dose N1, and those parameters were recorded minimum from nitrogen dose N3. Meanwhile, leaf boron and soil boron were recorded maximum from the individual doses of nitrogen N3 and N2 respectively and those parameters were recorded minimum from nitrogen dose N3. Increasing nitrogen dose to N1 significantly decreased the soil pH, while bulk density showed no significant changes with the application of nitrogen. In the case of boron application, biological yield, soil nitrogen, leaf nitrogen, soil boron, and leaf boron were recorded maximum from boron dose B1 and those parameters were recorded minimum from B3. Soil pH, Bulk density, and soil organic matter showed no significant changes with the application of boron. In the case of combined effect, maximum leaf nitrogen and soil boron was recorded from treatment T3:- N2B1. Therefore, relevant management of nitrogen fertilizers in the soil in combination with boron is crucial.","PeriodicalId":89696,"journal":{"name":"Journal of the Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science","volume":"57 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83172076","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design with five treatments and four replications. The treatments included: Traditional Transplanting–Random (TTR), Traditional Transplanting–Line (TTL), System of Rice Intensification (SRI), Wet Direct Seeded Rice-Line (WDSRL) and Wet Direct Seeded Rice-Broadcasting (WDSRB). The results showed that plant height, number of tillers at 40 DAT, number of grains per panicle, 1000 grain weight, grain yield, straw yield and grain sterility percentage were significantly influenced by crop establishment methods, whereas number of tillers at 60 DAP, number of effective tillers at harvest, panicle length and harvest index were not significantly different among the treatments. TTR method produced the highest grain yield (4.58 t/ha), straw yield (7.25 t/ha) and benefit-cost ratio (3.28) followed by TTL. Hence, traditional transplanting method of rice establishment was found better than WDSR and SRI in terms of productivity and profitability. The main aim of the study was to determine production performance and to estimate genetic parameters for growth traits of indigenous and Boer crossbred kids of goats in field conditions. Result indicated that the heritability estimates of litter weight at different ages ranges from 0.42 ± 0.05 (at birth) to 0.73 ± 0.14 (at twelve months). Similarly, phenotypic association among litter weight and size at birth and weaning were high whereas genetic correlations among the traits were higher than the phenotypic correlation. Moderate to high heritability suggested that the genetic variance is higher relative to phenotypic variance and thus high potentiality for estimating growth of kids through intense selection. Similarly, strong positive genetic and phenotypic association between the litter weight and size at birth and weaning indicated that these traits could be the most important and effective selection criteria for achieving higher growth at later stage of life","PeriodicalId":89696,"journal":{"name":"Journal of the Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science","volume":"118 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79041267","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is in this pursuit that we have been spending billions to import livestock from different countries. Initially the plan and policies were to select indigenous animals and have them upgraded through cross breeding to improve milk production trait. With time the special idea to scan and select best performing indigenous animals from around the country got sidelined and competition to import pure exotic breeds began. Many issues, most importantly failing to provide standard husbandry, lack of multi utility of male calves have dampened the momentum. Alongside, for breeding involving big exotic sires like Holstein Frisian, Brown Swiss and Jersey with our nondescript dam is potential to dystocia because of relatively large birth weight of crossbred calf. Around 60% of dystocia are of fetal causes and birth weight is one major cause here in Nepal. Dystocia is associated with reduction in milk yield, poor cow fertility, poor health and pre-weaning mortality up to 50 percent. Crossbreed birth weight and dystocia are highly correlated. High occurrence of dystocia was reported with Holstein Frisian sire followed by Brown Swiss and Jersey when these sires were mated with nondescript dams. Proportionate and compatible selection of both sire and dam is important to avoid dystocia. Expected Progeny Differences (EPD) values for birth weight and calving ease would be a key for sire selection.","PeriodicalId":89696,"journal":{"name":"Journal of the Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science","volume":"118 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87655126","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
