The absence of the Fc region prevents binding of antibody–covered virions to cellular Fc receptors and to complement component C1q, thus preventing ADE by these mechanisms and limiting viral entry to cells. It logically follows that the range of cell types potentially infected would be reduced, slowing the invasive nature of viral infections. We briefly review the structure, function and evolution of IgY, the mechanisms of ADE, discuss how producing truncated immunoglobulins could limit ADE, and how future research can falsify or confirm this hypothesis.","PeriodicalId":89570,"journal":{"name":"International journal of immunological studies","volume":"2 1","pages":"29"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1504/IJIS.2014.066848","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67133106","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In particular, for complex biomolecules as proteins and nucleic acids, the results are only partly usable. Thus, molecular structures of immunological relevant molecules can only be determined experimentally by methods as X–ray analysis and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. Perhaps, the difficulties with the algorithms used so far are that a large number of interactions are ignored. So far, electrostatic interactions as in hydrogen bonds have been considered, with addition of van der Waals interactions and hydrophobic forces. This work considers mass–charge interactions in addition to the Coulombic interactions as pure charge–charge interactions. This new type of interaction has recently been proposed, and turns out to be useful in the calculation of molecular structures. An efficient method of calculating molecular structures would lead to a better understanding of structures and would be a developmental leap for computational biology.","PeriodicalId":89570,"journal":{"name":"International journal of immunological studies","volume":"2 1","pages":"61"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1504/IJIS.2014.066840","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67132897","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, qRT–PCR gene expression profiles require normalisation to housekeeping genes that might be affected by metabolic, inflammatory, hypoxic, apoptotic, revascularisation–related and immune–cell infiltrate changes. Here, we examined eight housekeeping genes. Methods: Syngeneic and allogeneic mouse islet transplantations were performed; day 1 and 7 grafts were analysed for insulin and CD3 transcript levels, as normalised to each housekeeping gene. Results: Normalised qRT–PCR data was not uniform across transplant combinations and time from transplantation. 18s RNA was the superior housekeeping gene, as confirmed by valid changes in CD3 and insulin expression levels. Conclusions: While β–actin and GAPDH are the least–fitting housekeeping genes for the dynamic microenvironment of islet transplants, 18s RNA maintains authenticity across transplant combinations, time from transplantation and altered immune microenvironment.","PeriodicalId":89570,"journal":{"name":"International journal of immunological studies","volume":"2 1","pages":"42"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1504/IJIS.2014.066850","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67133198","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The reference group of the patients, which received only a–2b IFN, also showed the positive dynamics of the analysed indicators, although to a much smaller degree as compared to the main group. The viral loads in the main group patients substantially dropped: the majority of the patients from the main group (78.6%) after the end of the treatment had minimal levels of the viral loads ranging (150–499) × 103, while in some of the patients (10.7 %) the virus was not detected at all. The study group consisted of ten children with asthma and the control group of ten age-matched healthy subjects. In all patients IR and 24 autoantibodies (aAb) type G were measured by ELISA (Immunculus, Russia). The IR in asthmatics was 42% and was statistically significantly higher than this of control group 9% (p < 0.005). The level of aAbs (LuM, LuS, CoM and dsDNA) was also raised in the asthmatics. Anti-Adr aAbs was higher in one patient who required intense treatment for asthma with frequent use of corticosteroids. Anti-HMMP, insulin and IR aAbs were significantly lower in comparison to the control group (p < 0.05). This study confirms the high level of immunological activation in patients with asthma. The presence of autoantibodies implies that autoimmunity might have a role in the pathogenesis of asthma.","PeriodicalId":89570,"journal":{"name":"International journal of immunological studies","volume":"1 1","pages":"376"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1504/IJIS.2012.051244","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67133279","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although immuno-prophylactic preparations appeared to offer the most suitable control, no vaccine trials were directed to prevent Klebsiella in all patient’s groups. Therefore, the screening for universal protein epitopes in all types of Klebsiella infections is the corner-stone to produce potent vaccines. Western blot was used for such purpose and highlighted five proteins produced in sufficient amounts, shared by all isolates and exerted a clear immunogenic response in different groups of infected patients. Literature review and further purification of outer membrane proteins (OMPs) revealed that those bands are the main OMP’s of Klebsiella. The conjugation of those OMPs to the main Klebsiella O-antigens would be the building block of a new potent vaccine.","PeriodicalId":89570,"journal":{"name":"International journal of immunological studies","volume":"1 1","pages":"336"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1504/IJIS.2012.051235","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67133085","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Because of their small size, they can interact easily on the same level with microscopic pathogens such as bacteria or viruses. They are also adaptable enough that they can be applied in different biotechnological applications, from fine electronics to innovative medical procedures in modern biomedical science. Substantial research has been done to develop a series of bio products based on nanoparticles, some of which have been applied for public applications in medical science. Nanoparticles have been proved useful in number of applications but potential implementation of nanoparticles lies in their medical applications. Their tiny pathogen-sized proportions naturally make them key candidates for the fight against various unwanted foreign pathogens of the human body; they can be delivered intravenously directly into your bloodstream to destroy viruses and bacteria as same as T-cells of the immune system. This technology gives a much-needed boost to medical applications for major untreatable diseases. These new products provide stable, safe, and effective alternatives for working with potentially hazardous biological for applications such as drug targeting, immunological studies, biosensor development, and biocatalysis.","PeriodicalId":89570,"journal":{"name":"International journal of immunological studies","volume":"1 1","pages":"319"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1504/IJIS.2012.051233","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67132444","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
