Variations in fifteen morphometric and qualitative characters in one hundred and seventy-one animals from six population samples were analyzed using univariate and multivariate statistics. Descriptives of sexes and correlation between morphological characters was also analyzed. Female toads had larger mean values of most of the morphological characters studied with weight contributing the largest variance. The chromosomes of twenty-four specimens of the toad were also studied using standard bone marrow smear techniques. A chromosome complement of 2n=20 was observed for this species. The chromosomes consists of nine pairs of metacentric and one pair of submetacentric chromosomes. The chromosomes based on centromeric position could be grouped into two - metacentric and submetacentric - and based on size, into three metacentric chromosomes; 1-4 which were large, metacentric chromosomes; 5-6 medium sized metacentric chromosomes, while 7-9 were small sized, and the last pair (10), submetacentric chromosomes were small. The fundamental number of this species is 40 and with no sex chromosomes or satellites reported, while bi-armed chromosomes were observed. Findings also showed that female individuals of the species weighed more than the male.","PeriodicalId":86600,"journal":{"name":"Scientific review","volume":"30 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79256234","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Foods, and vegetables inclusive contain naturally occurring prophylactics and therapeutics with different means of preparation and accessibility but not enough reports are available on them to educate especially the poor masses on how to turn normal foods into potential drugs to save them a lot of time and money. Malnutrition and starvation with associated health problems have become a global threat and there is a need to review and create more awareness on possible access to naturally grown foods that are loaded with biologically potential active nutrients. Nutraceuticals are a group of biochemicals that are found in food substances and provide potential physiological benefits. This group of compounds presents little or no side effects due to their natural ability compared to synthetic products. This topic is aimed to investigate the various active nutraceuticals that are obtainable in vegetable crop plants. It will also expound on the disease prevention and health benefits as well as the enhancement of the overall human wellness potentials provided by vegetable crops and nutraceuticals.","PeriodicalId":86600,"journal":{"name":"Scientific review","volume":"48 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76315892","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The device was implemented using a DE0-Nano-SoC Development Kit FPGA development module, a 2x16 LCD Display, a 2-channel quadrature output optical encoder with push button, two ultrasonic transducers and an external module for interfacing with the transducers containing the circuits corresponding to the transmitter, receiver and amplifier. For the development, the Altera Integrated Development Environment (IDE) software called Quartus II was used, which allows the logical design and supports different HDL hardware description languages, such as Verilog and VHLD. Although the device was calibrated to measure the acoustic velocity of water in the range of 35°C to 40°C, due to its design characteristics it is feasible to extend its application to measure acoustic velocity in different liquids, delimiting the operation intervals. The device acquires 100 readings per second, calculates the average with polynomial adjustment and displays the value of the ultrasonic propagation velocity in the fluid with a resolution of 0.01 [m/s] with a refresh rate of one second.","PeriodicalId":86600,"journal":{"name":"Scientific review","volume":"57 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78794078","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It highlights the origin of silicates, pozzolanic composite or alumino-silicates that could be melted within alkaline solution that may be utilized as a source of geopolymers creation. Materials that possess plenty aluminium, silicon and others such as metakaolin, microsilica, pozzolanas, ashes, red mud, kaolin clay and slags can be used as raw materials with the activators to create geopolymers. Also geopolymer end product after the exothermic procedure carried out via oligomers, as well as three stages of geopolymerisation which are suspension, when hard or solid alumino-silicates matter and stuff is dissolved because of the occurrence of water together with alkali activator. After jettisoning a small quantity of water, the reorientation outsets, and then the cluster atoms take their position in the structure. In the course of the solidification at 200C (twenty Celsius degree) or higher temperature of roughly 10000C, the water (H2O) is almost absolutely jettisoned and the material displays his final look.","PeriodicalId":86600,"journal":{"name":"Scientific review","volume":"26 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86464274","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As terminal sterilization, gamma irradiation is being used popularly to sterilize different materials throughout Bangladesh. Compare to other conventional methods of sterilization (e.g., alpha, beta, other chemicals), this method is highly applicable for its well acceptance in the world. It has high penetration power with the short wave lengths, isothermal characteristics for its negligible rise in the temperature, no contact with any toxic chemicals without having any unirradiated portion. In this process, the assurance level of the sterility of product is far better than other aseptic processing. The chemical bonds in the microbes are broken to produce reactive oxygen species (ROS) by gamma irradiation, and attack DNA/RNA of microbes for killing. The mutations in the genetic materials (DNA/RNA) of microbes are usually happened through gamma irradiation and consequently restrict the cellular division of microbes. This characteristic of gamma ray is mostly applicable in the commercial purposes. This review discusses the general applications of gamma irradiation to the broaden arena of different materials (active pharmaceutical ingredients, consumer products, beverages etc.). A summarized description of materials those are irradiated using Cobalt-60 source in Bangladesh, in particular, at the Institute of Radiation & Polymer Technology (IRPT), Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission, is described here.
