This paper reports the application of the FSU interaction to systematically trace out the relative positions of the effective single-particle energies of the $0f_{7/2}$ and $1p_{3/2}$ orbitals, the evolution from normally ordered low-lying states to the \"Island of Inversion\" (IoI), and the behavior of a wide range of excited states with a $0f_{7/2}$ proton and neutron coupled to maximum spin of $7 hbar$. Above a proton number of about 13 the $0f_{7/2}$ orbital lies below that of $1p_{3/2}$, which is considered normal ordering, but systematically at $Z = 10$ to $12$ the orbitals cross. The calculations reproduce well the 2p2h - 0p0h inversion in the configurations of nuclei inside the IoI, they reproduce the absolute binding energies and the transition to normal ordering as the proton number approaches that of the neutrons. The important role of $1p_{3/2}$ neutron pairs in the IoI is also demonstrated. The calculations account well for the energies of the fully aligned states with 0, 1, or 2 individual $sd$ nucleon aligned in spin with the aligned $pi 0f_{7/2}$ - $nu 0f_{7/2}$ pair and reproduce well their systematic variation with $A$ and number of aligned $sd$ nucleons. The results presented in this paper give hope for the predictive power of the FSU interaction for more exotic nuclei to be explored in near future.","PeriodicalId":8464,"journal":{"name":"arXiv: Nuclear Experiment","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85137512","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The availability of 10-20 GeV secondary meson beam in the coming high-momentum beam line of Hadron Hall at J-PARC offers an unique opportunity to carry out the measurements of the exclusive hard processes. We address this interesting approach by two possibilities: (a) $pi^- p to K^0 Lambda(1405)$ for the constituent quark structure of $Lambda(1405)$, and (b) exclusive pion-induced Drell-Yan process $pi^- p to gamma^* n to l^+ l^- n$ for the generalized parton distributions (GPDs) of nucleons. Realization of such measurements at J-PARC will open up a new way of accessing the internal quark structure of exotic hadrons and also the nucleon GPDs based on a solid theoretical foundation of perturbative QCD.","PeriodicalId":8464,"journal":{"name":"arXiv: Nuclear Experiment","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85425636","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A non-zero permanent electric-dipole-moment (EDM) for fundamental particles, nuclei or atoms, violates CP. Measuring a non-zero EDM allows us to gain a handle on additional sources of CP-violation required to explain the observed BAU. The EDM of an atom with an octupole and quadrupole deformed nucleus is enhanced. Therefore, the search for such atoms has become important in the quest to measure an EDM. Viability of EDM searches in $^{225}$Ra atoms with a deformed nucleus have already been demonstrated. We have performed a comprehensive survey for possible EDM candidates from a list of octupole deformed nuclei predicted by various theoretical models. Our search of long-lived isotopes with nuclear deformations comparable to or better than $^{225}$Ra results in a handful of viable candidates for future atomic EDM experiments based out of the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB): $^{221}$Rn, $^{221,223,227}$Fr, $^{221,223,225}$Ra, $^{223,225,227}$Ac, $^{229}$Th, and particularly $^{229}$Pa. Furthermore, nuclei of $^{223,225}$Rn, $^{225}$Fr and $^{226}$Ac are also highly quadrupole and octupole deformed, but their ground state parity doublet energy difference has not yet been measured.","PeriodicalId":8464,"journal":{"name":"arXiv: Nuclear Experiment","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74562936","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The angular distributions of tritons were measured for more than 200 excited states seen in the triton spectra up to 4.3 MeV. A number of 36 excited 0+ states (five tentative), have been assigned by comparison of experimental angular distributions with the calculated ones using the CHUCK code. Assignments for levels with higher spins are the following: 95 for 2+ states, 64 for 4+ states, 14 for 6+ states and about 20 for negative parity states. Sequences of states which can be treated as rotational bands are selected. The analysis of the moments of inertia defined for these bands is carried out. This high number of excited states in a deformed nucleus, close to a complete level scheme, constitutes a very good ground to check models of nuclear structure. The large ensembles of states with the same spin-parity offer unique opportunities for statistical analysis. Such an analysis for the 0+, 2+ and 4+ states sequences, for all K-values and for well-determined projections K of the angular momentum is performed. The obtained data may indicate on a K symmetry breaking. Experimental data are compared with interacting boson model (IBM) calculations using the spdf version of the model. The energies of the low-lying levels, the transition probabilities in the first bands and the distribution in transfer intensity of the 0+ states are calculated and compared with experiment.","PeriodicalId":8464,"journal":{"name":"arXiv: Nuclear Experiment","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86124627","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

If this baryon existed, it would likely to be seen in other reactions as well. While the aforementioned peak, whatever its nature is, was confirmed by several experiments, claims for signatures of the $N(1685)$ in other reactions and observables are mainly made by V. Kuznetsov et al. using GRAAL data. Their latest work suggests signals of both $N(1685)$ charge states in all isospin channels of $etapi$-photoproduction off the proton and neutron. This contribution reports on challenging these claims with data from the A2 at MAMI experiment employing photon beam energies from $E_{gamma}$=1.43-1.58 GeV. The $etapi^0p$ and $etapi^+n$ final states produced from a hydrogen target were studied and new analysis cuts were tested in order to enhance a possible signal.","PeriodicalId":8464,"journal":{"name":"arXiv: Nuclear Experiment","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72683491","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
