It examines methodological and ethical issues and problems. The article aims to identify problematic points and to demonstrate how methodological sensitivity and reflexivity can help to find relevant research focuses and interpretative frameworks. The first section of the article is devoted to research strategies, in particular the problems of “fast” and “slow” research, as well as issues of observations and specifics of interviewing of refugees. The use of mosaic methodology, research strategies of “fast” and “slow” sociology, different sources, etc. allows researchers to find non-trivial research focuses.The second section of the article is devoted to the relationship between the researcher and the research subject. On the one hand, the humanitarian perspective universalizes suffering, on the other hand, it allows establishing trusting and personalized relationships and working with the sensitive topics. The handbooks compensate for the acute shortage of Russian educational texts on qualitative data collection and analysis in sociology. They can be effectively used in teaching research disciplines and in research practice. Both handbooks have all the characteristics of a contemporary educational texts. Their authors have relevant practical experience in the issues under discussion and provide particular examples and practical recommendations. Both texts are well structured. Both include many educational and methodological elements (not only literature and test questions, but summaries, keywords, practical tasks, links to extensive online resources). This approach is based on the author’s experience in doing qualitative research in different spheres, as well as teaching qualitative sociology at several universities. The contemporary world is always changing and makes many challenges, including big challenges in the field of sociology: it requires changing the ways of teaching sociology, doing research, and presenting data. On the one hand, we can observe the increasing demand for diversification of the methods of data presentation, because the different target audiences need diverted formats of data. On the other hand, through the creative presentation of research data, it is possible to quicker and more accessibly disseminate information about deprived groups of people that are now invisible and whose voices are not heard. Experimental art forms generate the possibilities for hearing their voices. The first part of the article provides a short description of the foundations of the approach. It explains the peculiar features of teaching experimental art format within the courses on qualitative sociology. Since the late nineties of the last century online methods have become popular, classical research methods have been digitized, the natively digital methods have emerged, for example, asynchronous online focus groups. The pandemic has led to a rapid increase of popularity of online-methods in Russia, in particular online focus groups have become in demand by the market. Despite the removal of COVID restrictions, online focus groups have remained popular. In this article we consider the changed social reality, analyze specifics in the organization and conduct of online focus groups on the example of Leningrad Region. We demonstrate the advantages and disadvantages of this method, comprehend the factors that may lead to sample bias in organizing online focus groups, present our results in the field of organization and conduct of focus groups on the Internet. Chudova","doi":"10.19181/inter.2023.15.2.1","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.19181/inter.2023.15.2.1","url":null,"abstract":"This study examines therapeutic discourse, which is presented in the texts of psychologists in the context of crisis conditions associated with the Russian and world news and event agenda of the period end of February — April 2022. The purpose of the study was to reveal and describe the content of therapeutic discourse, to identify which methods (strategies) to normalize crisis conditions it refers to resorting, and whether the opposite happen — when the crucial events taking place are sharpened as a problem. The analysis of the material of blogs (Russian—language texts of psychologists posted on social networks for the period end of February — beginning of March) and interviews with practicing psychologists (11 interviews, collected in March— April 2022). Critical discourse analysis allowed to identify and describe the specifics, characteristic vocabulary and ideological guidelines of therapeutic discourse in crisis conditions, detect its interdiscursivity. A separate emphasis was placed on the description of therapeutic discourse in relation to socio-political, ethical-moral and other neighboring discourses, the following strategies of normalization of the crisis situation inherent in therapeutic discourse were identified — “sealing”, “re-description”, “attention switching”, the opposite discursive strategy — problematization was also outlined. Travel diary is the primary and most popular source of this sort of information. Features of three types of diaries are considered in the article — memory-based, semi-automated and automated. Based on the broad foreign empirical experience the author draws on the analysis of the current trend towards partially or even fully automated collection of travel data. The memory-based type of diary becomes obsolete nowadays. Its significant advantage and valuable element for studying urban mobility is the collection of subjective information about the transport behavior logic. Based on findings made by analyzing three types of travel diaries the author concludes that semi-automated diary is the optimal form of the diary. The main reason is its combination of both automated data collection on respondents’ travel choices and the possibility of its manual correction.
