In isothermal annealing of α-tracks in CN-85 exposed to radon gas in equilibrium with its daughters, the track density as a function of annealing time follows a curve which is step-like. Such a step-like behaviour has been confirmed by computer simulation of α-tracks from radon both for post-irradiation annealings and for simultaneous irradiation and annealing. Studies on the effect of irradiation temperature on the registration efficiency η of CN-85 detectors show that η is a decreasing function of temperature in the temperature range 26–90°C studied in this work.</p></div>","PeriodicalId":81549,"journal":{"name":"International Journal Of Radiation Applications And Instrumentation. When fitting data to a straight line, an expression is derived which allows the error in the accumulated dose, <em>AD</em>, to be estimated. For fitting data to a saturating exponential, the simplex algorithm with quadratic convergence is proposed. This allows the errors in the parameters, including the <em>AD</em>, to be estimated. An alternative method for estimating the parameter errors, using analytical expressions for the required partial derivatives, is also described. Hunyadi","doi":"10.1016/1359-0189(92)90014-M","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1016/1359-0189(92)90014-M","url":null,"abstract":"<div><p>Experimental studies of the slowing down of <sup>1</sup>H, <sup>4</sup>He, <sup>7</sup>Li, <sup>11</sup>B, <sup>12</sup>C, <sup>14</sup>N, and <sup>16</sup>O ions in LR-115 type II cellulose nitrate nuclear track etch material in the ion energy range 0.3–4.3 MeV amu<sup>-1</sup> are presented. The ion stopping powers obtained are compared with the predictions of two recent semi-empirical models for calculating ion stopping powers. The predictions are found to underestimate the observed stopping powers for <sup>7</sup>Li, <sup>11</sup>B and <sup>12</sup>C ions. The deviations are below 10%. The stopping power data are further compared with those of a polypyromellitimide material (Kapton) composed of the same atomic elements.
