We had determined the сongenital ear’s anomalies (CEA) in newborns (2006-2018 yy) in West Ukraine, Lviv region. Methods 14 newborns who were diagnosed according to the reporting form by the maternity hospitals with CEA were analyzed over a period of 13 years.Results During the study period (2006–2018), there were 366 147 births reported, and 8634 newborns with birth defects, 14 were with CEA, an average incidence of 0.4 per 10 000 births. Our study included 10 boys and 4 girls with CEA. Male-to-female ratio was 2.5:1. The number of newborns with ear pathology was 1.8 times higher in the city than in the village. The most common birth defects of the ear were Q16.1 congenital absence, atresia and stricture of auditory canal (external) – 4 (28.6%) and Q16.9 CEA causing impairment of hearing, unspecified – 4 (28.6%), especially the most common of right side. Microtia (Q17.2) was met very rarely -1 (7.1%) and other CEA Q16.9-1 (7.1%). During this period there were only 2 cases of anotia and 1 case of microtia. There was only 1 (7.1%) case of bilateral CEA in boy from town. Just one girl had CEA was associated with birth defect of musculoskeletal system. Conclusion This is necessary to establish the correct diagnosis in time, especially for mind of the family doctors, genetic counseling for relatives family for has benefited earlier prophylaxis.","PeriodicalId":79680,"journal":{"name":"Lin chuang er bi yan hou ke za zhi = Journal of clinical otorhinolaryngology","volume":"45 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87198459","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: The Scopus database was used to carry out the study, and the descriptors \"sudden hearing loss\", “sudden sensorineural hearing loss\" and \"sudden sensorial hearing loss\" were used, limited to the title, keywords and summary field. The most common bibliometric indicators were applied for the selected publications. Results: A total of 2,509 original articles were recovered between1966-2017. The growth of the publications was adapting better to a linear adjustment (r = 0.84). The time of duplication is 10.4 years. Bradford's core (most productive journals) formed by thirteen journals, some of the most productive are Otology and Neurotology, Acta Oto-Laryngologica and Laryngoscope, with an Impact Factor of 2.024, 2.471 and 1.116, respectively. Regarding geographical distribution, the United States, Japan and Germany present the highest production. Conclusions: The scientific production on the sudden hearing loss follows a linear growth, without evidence that should have reached a saturation point. In this case, the postulates of the Law of growth of Price's science are not fulfilled. In addition, a high index of transience exists.","PeriodicalId":79680,"journal":{"name":"Lin chuang er bi yan hou ke za zhi = Journal of clinical otorhinolaryngology","volume":"85 1","pages":"01-11"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90612118","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Its advantages include relative precision in incision making, relatively bloodless fields if used appropriately, decrease postoperative pain and excellent healing with fibrosis which aids in stiffening tissues. Radiofrequency is high frequency alternating current used to ablate (cut/coagulate) tissues. Radiofrequency ablation treatment can be applied to nasal turbinates, soft palate, tongue base, tonsils etc and it can be used in various surgeries in the cutting mode to improve obstructive sleep disordered breathing.","PeriodicalId":79680,"journal":{"name":"Lin chuang er bi yan hou ke za zhi = Journal of clinical otorhinolaryngology","volume":"51 1","pages":"01-02"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73836317","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The level of awareness of such risk factors amongst the otolaryngology clinic patient population has not yet been elucidated in the literature. Method: This individual cohort study took place at a tertiary academic center. A survey was designed and administered to all patients who presented to otolaryngology clinic from 2017 to 2018 to assess knowledge of head and neck cancer risk factors. The main outcome measures were percentage of correct responses for each cancer risk factor and comparison of percent correct between cancer and non-cancer patients. Results: A total of 510 patients were enrolled in the study including 69 patients (13.5%) with a history of head and neck cancer. The most well recognized risk factors by all patients were cigarettes (83.7%) and chewing tobacco (77.5%). Twenty-nine percent of patients correctly identified alcohol as a risk factor. Additional risk factors were poorly recognized. Cancer patients had a similar or better correct response rate than non-cancer patients except for chewing tobacco (68.1% vs 78.9% respectively). Conclusion: The general otolaryngology clinic population, especially patients with a history of head and neck cancer, demonstrated improved knowledge of some risk factors for head and neck cancer, but insufficient awareness of alcohol and HPV transmissible behaviors.","PeriodicalId":79680,"journal":{"name":"Lin chuang er bi yan hou ke za zhi = Journal of clinical otorhinolaryngology","volume":"126 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80387336","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
