Flexible work arrangements are presented as acceptable work practices when they provide a means of facilitating this culture, rather than as an alternative method of working.Research limitations/implications – The Australian accounting professional bodies continue to actively portray the long hours culture of professional work (and play) as the foundation of success, despite widespread concern about, first, the long‐term implications of such ...","PeriodicalId":78760,"journal":{"name":"The Journal of the College of General Practitioners","volume":"5 3 1","pages":"333-4"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-07-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1108/01140580810892481","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"62305121","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are differences in the American and European approaches to supporting and organizing preservation initiatives. US institutions would benefit from wider outreach and education efforts.Practical implications – The implications are left to the reader, but may suggest that more reflection on the goals and strategies of the preservation community is in order.Originality/value – This paper identifies a need to develop and support distributed centers of excellence to promote digital preservation, provide expertise to other institutions, and to organize sharing and training opportunities for their constituencies.","PeriodicalId":78760,"journal":{"name":"The Journal of the College of General Practitioners","volume":"5 4 1","pages":"495-7"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-11-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1108/07378830710840419","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"62255440","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Major depression affects both employees and organizations. Depression is linked to increases in work absenteeism, short-term disability, and decreased productivity and presenteeism. Depression experienced by registered nurses may not be fully preventable, but realizing its presence and prevalence in the workplace is of vital importance. It is essential that we have a healthy, vibrant, and present registered nurse workforce to ensure that quality patient outcomes are achieved. This review of 36 articles assesses the current state of the science related to depression in registered nurses so that occupational health nurses can create pathways and work environments for better mental health for registered nurses.","PeriodicalId":78760,"journal":{"name":"The Journal of the College of General Practitioners","volume":"11 1","pages":"190 - 190"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1989-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89844877","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
