Review of 179 cases].","authors":"C Gay Escoda,&nbsp;L Berini Aytes,&nbsp;D Malet Hernandez,&nbsp;A Garcia Jimenez","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><p>We introduce a study about 179 cases of Pilomatrixioma, registered in the archives from General Hospital \"Vall d'Hebrón\" of Barcelona between 1972-1988. Tumour of pediatric presentation, about 502 of cases have been observed in young people under 20 years, being both sexes almost equally affected percentually. About 75% of cases appear a a a single tumour smaller than 15 mm of diameter. Multiple presentation is observed only in the 2.8 of cases. A bit more than the 50% of cases are located in the head and the neck, usually in the preauricular region. Next follow upper extremities (27%), lower extremities (11%), and the rest of the body (6.7%). One of them, Nifedipine, has several side effects, out of which is gingival overgrowth. This analysis the great differences between well-knowing authors about very important subjects in occlusion, as the condylar position in centric relation and in TMJ Syndrome, or what kind of malocclusion (morphologic and functional, skeletal or dental) was the cause of TMJ Syndrome. Is discussed like on the practice clinic, we can find undamaged both elements, or we have only with the Hertwig's epithelial root sheath. We indicate a treatment when we have a vioble dental pulp, like different treatment if only we have the Hertwig's epithelial sheath.
