The combination of a masseter flap with a cranially pedicled intraoral buccal transposition flap results in a double layer for the repair of defects. Both the pre- and postoperative ultrasonograms demonstrated all fractures of the zygomatic arch. {"title":"[Resistance of isolated cells from squamous cell carcinomas of the oral cavity to cytotoxic drugs].","authors":"J E Eickbohm,&nbsp;T Görögh,&nbsp;B Lippert,&nbsp;R Ewers","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><p>Human tumor cells from 22 patients with squamous cell carcinomas of the oral cavity were cultivated in vitro and then subjected to sensitivity tests to cytotoxic drugs such as methotrexate, 5-fluorouracil, cisplatin and bleomycin. Tumor cell proliferation showed drug-specific reaction patterns and time-dose-dependent variations. While the effect of methotrexate on cell proliferation was insignificant, 5-fluorouracil caused a growth suppression of 50%. It was the goal of this study to delineate the effects of these two techniques on stability. The patient population was approximately the same on both groups. 1 year after surgery differences in stability were not found. In 6 patients circumscribed wound infections occurred, and 5 post-operative hemorrhages as well as 2 injection hematomas were observed. In the group of patients where dental surgery was performed after organ transplantation, all 123 procedures were free of complications. Treatment of transplantation patients in the dental office requires a profound understanding of the complex clinical problems these patients might present, a good coordination of the required measures and close cooperation between the transplantation center and the attending dentist.
