It is performed as part of religious ceremonies, as a rite of passage, such as reaching sexual maturity, for cosmetic reasons, or to enhance sexual feelings (Langford 1996). This ancient art is now becoming more and more popular in Britain and a matter of individual choice, with many areas of the body being chosen for piercing. These areas include: eyebrow, ear, septum and side of nose, lip, cheek, tongue, nipple, naval, scrotum and genitalia. The site chosen for the body piercing could pose problems in the future if the individual has to undergo a surgical procedure or general anaesthetic.","PeriodicalId":77412,"journal":{"name":"The British journal of theatre nursing : NATNews : the official journal of the National Association of Theatre Nurses","volume":"9 10","pages":"468-71"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1999-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1177/175045899900901008","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"21501246","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Music in theatres. 剧院里的音乐。

{"title":"Music in theatres.","authors":"J Oliver","doi":"10.1177/175045899900901006","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1177/175045899900901006","url":null,"abstract":"The benefits of music as a therapeutic medium have been well documented (Biley 1992). As the patient’s advocate, the theatre nurse needs to structure the environment so it is more therapeutic for the patient (Kaempt & Amodei 1989). However for music to be successful it needs to be used appropriately within the operating department. The findings from a literature review were utilised in the development of a protocol for the use of music in the operating department (see figure 1). Although the literature supports music having a therapeutic influence for patients, it is not clear what effect it has on the theatre team. Consequently a descriptive study was undertaken to examine the views of staff in relation to music in the operating department.","PeriodicalId":77412,"journal":{"name":"The British journal of theatre nursing : NATNews : the official journal of the National Association of Theatre Nurses","volume":"9 10","pages":"460-3"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1999-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1177/175045899900901006","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"21501244","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Even minor surgical procedures can produce anxiety in patients; this in turn can affect their postoperative recovery and lead to a risk of physiological complications (Swindale 1989). Thus, preoperative anxiety is identified as one of the common nursing diagnoses or problems for surgical patients.","PeriodicalId":77412,"journal":{"name":"The British journal of theatre nursing : NATNews : the official journal of the National Association of Theatre Nurses","volume":"9 10","pages":"455-9"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1999-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1177/175045899900901005","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"21501243","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
