{"title":"[The condition of the skin system of the newborn infant on the first outpatient return after hospital discharge].","authors":"A F Kimura,&nbsp;M A Tsunechiro,&nbsp;I C Bonadio","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><p>The objective of the study was to verify the condition of the tegument of the newborn in the first attendance to nursing follow-up after hospital discharge and to detect the actions undertaken by the mothers in the care of the newborns' skin and mucosa. The data were obtained through physical exam performed in 40 newborn in March and April of 1989. The problems most frequently identified were related to stump and skin rash caused by diapering. This research is qualitative in nature, and the methodology utilized is a content analysis of the documented discourses of a group of lower class women in Ribeirão Preto (SP). The results demonstrate that for these women, health is much more than the absence of disease\". Their health concerns are biological, interpersonal, social and economic in nature, and are based more upon their personal experiences and social perceptions than on the concept of health and disease. {"title":"[Knowledge about communication in nursing in the international literature].","authors":"E C de Carvalho","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><p>The author tried to identify the producer of knowledge; the vehicle used; the addressed, based on the presentation the nurse's functions; the processes of elaboration, divulgation and utilization of the knowledge; the theoretical and methodological approaches used in the studies of communication in nursing 1725 quotations in this subject were identified on the table of contents of INI, CINAHL and IMLA. 640 were available in Brazil and 98.1% of them were analysed. The greatest amount of publications were concerned to caring, (46.7%) followed by the educational (25.2%) and administrative (14.1%) areas. Most of the authors are centralized on the process of the production of Knowledge (79.4%). The most expressive theoretical embasement is related to interpersonal context. Skin and blood cultures were done in the first and fifth days and when the catheter were discharged. There were correlation between skin and catheter cultures in 33%.
