The diagnosis was confirmed by clinical history, physical examination and skin test. We found an accumulative prevalence of 12.8% with predominance in males. The 93.4% had confirmed diagnosis, the 30% had need for hospitalization in the last school year. We also analyze the age of onset, family history of allergy and school absenteeism. {"title":"[Sports in the multidisciplinary treatment of the asthmatic child].","authors":"N Rojas Molina,&nbsp;F Alcalá Fernández,&nbsp;J R Comas Viñas","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><p>A comparative analytical study was undertaken in 18 asthmatic children were incorporated in a physical rehabilitation program participating in swimming and physical exercises which lasted one year. During this time their parents also attended an informative course so that they could obtain a greater understanding of the illness and its treatment as well as their having received familial psychiatric evaluations which focussed on a better solution to the conflicts this illness presents. Significant changes were noted in the spirometrical results being those as noted FEV1 (p less than 0.0125) as apposed to FVC (NS), and FEF 25-75% (NS). The results obtained from the flexibility and resistance exercises were statistically significant in comparison to the velocity ones which were not (NS), the psychiatric evaluations show a better familiar relations less manipulated and less agressions between asthmatic children and his parents. {"title":"[Ketotifen in allergic diseases].","authors":"J G Huerta López","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><p>This study included the review of 1000 clinical histories of allergic diseases, in a retrospective way, that was seeing in the Service of Allergy of the Instituto Nacional de Pediatría in Mexico city. All the patients were previously diagnosed with several allergic pathologiest like: bronchial asthma, rhinitis, asthma and rhinitis, atopic dermatitis, etc. All the patients received as main therapeutic treatment ketotifen at least during 3 months to 12 months. Global improvement in all patients with the use of ketotifen, reach 84%, including all the pathologiest studied. {"title":"[Electrocardiographic changes with the use of aminophylline and salbutamol in adult patients with chronic bronchial asthma].","authors":"J Esquer Flores,&nbsp;M Orea Solano,&nbsp;V J Gálvez Gudiño","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><p>Fifteen patients diagnosed with bronchial asthma were examined to evaluate the cardiotoxicity caused by the combined intravenous treatment using methylxanthine-aminophylline 250 mg and a beta agonist: salbutamol 0.5 mg. The following observations were made: four patients had sinus tachycardia and another suffered from ventricular extrasystoles as seen in the electrocardiographic register; another two patients had sinus tachycardia when the bronchial dilator dosage was doubled.
