For this intention a defect was made in the distal femur epiphyses at the three species. The animals were observed for a term of 15 weeks. The results showed little differences with regard to the speed of the bone apposition in the three called species. The bone metabolism of rats was higher than those of the other ones. In the Department of Oral- and Maxillofacial Surgery of the University Hospital Kiel we use the subciliar access to the infraorbital region. Between 1983 and 1988 105 subciliar incisions were performed in 448 traumatologic operative procedures. In the clinical follow-up examinations of 52 patients merely three of the cases presented dissatisfying results. We regard this type of incision to represent a favorable approach to the infraorbital region. Disturbing scar formation can principally be avoided.</p>","PeriodicalId":77104,"journal":{"name":"Deutsche Zahn-, Mund-, und Kieferheilkunde mit Zentralblatt","volume":"79 5","pages":"381-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1991-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"13090909","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

During the centuries, the technique has been modified. Just at the middle of our century, gingivectomy was the most important surgical method in periodontal treatment. Indication for performance of the gingivectomy is the complete elimination of the periodontal pocket (gingival overgrowth/e.g. hyperplasia, subgingival caries, subgingivally located crown margins. The physiologic design of the free gingival margin by surgical means, gingivoplasty, must be taken under consideration. Depending on the long and painful healing for the patient, gingivectomy should be preserved for the indications above. It is believed to improve analysis of jaw by computer aided registration and evaluation systems (i.e. transformation of the true axis and jaw movements for use in articulators). Although the electronic evaluation systems helped to improve our understanding of the movements of the jaw, up to now the reproduction of physiological and pathological movements and their therapeutic changes have not been solved satisfactorily. The reason is sometimes miscorrection of system inherent projection errors. Additionally, numerical analysis and changes of the registered pathological movements are restricted to certain limits within the articulators for therapeutical purpose.</p>","PeriodicalId":77104,"journal":{"name":"Deutsche Zahn-, Mund-, und Kieferheilkunde mit Zentralblatt","volume":"79 1","pages":"31-4"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1991-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"20213640","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
