{"title":"[Organ cultures from isolated pancreatic islets of rats and their transplantation into streptozotocin-diabetic rats].","authors":"Y Kojima, G Yamazaki, G Nakagawara, I Miyazaki","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><strong>Unlabelled: </strong>Islets of Langerhans were isolated from the adult wistar rat by means of the collagenase method and cultivated in an incubator at a temperature of 37 degree Celsius and with a mixture of 95% air and 5% CO2. With that each two of the islets were put into every drill hole of multi-dish trays. 1 ml Eagle medium modified by Dulbecco with admixtures of 20% foetal calf serum, 100 microgram/ml Streptomycin and 100 u/ml Penicillin G was the nutrient medium. This medium was exchanged every third day and the released insulin quantity was measured by a radio immunologic test (Phadebas insulin test).</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>1. The insulin quantity in the nutrient medium runs to 1097 to 1434 microu/ml two islets if a change took place every third day during an 80 days duration of the culture. 2. The cultivated islets had a demonstrable reactivity of the insulin secretion to glucose and glucagon. 3. All animals get a basis-infusion therapy. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO) was applied additionally in 3 animals. All control animals survived. The three animals with HBO deceased in average after 22 days, those without HBO deceased already after 4.25 days. Laboratory and circulatory measures show no significant differences. The autopsy statements were different from the age of necrosis. {"title":"[Enteral resorption in the immediate postoperative phase following selective proximal vagotomy].","authors":"R Weiner, W Hartig, G Schmoz, C Weiner, R Laue","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><p>The postoperative absorption of the small intestine after selective proximal vagotomy was found out by means of the modified D-xylose absorption test in 23 patients on operating day, and on 1st, 5th, 8th, 9th and, 10th postoperative day. The constant of the adsorption speed was reduced on the operating day and decreased further to the 4th postoperative day. Afterwards the preoperative value was obtained approximately. The temporal state of the relative maximum of the curve of serum concentration (the moment tm) occurred in the same time interval. The tm-value obtained the preoperative value approximately. The dimensions of the absorption in the small intestine was reduced by 36% on the operating day, by 20,5% on the 1st postoperative day, and by 10% on the 4th postoperative day on the arithmetical average. The therapy, on the other hand, is not much satisfying yet. A myocardial ischemia was produced in 48 minipigs by ligature of the ramus interventricularis anterior of the left coronary artery. Its satellite vein was arterialised by means of plastic shunt. The majority of the animals of the control group without arterialisation did not survive. These complications occur predominantly directly in connection with organ rejection. Extrathoracic complications are rare and predominantly attributed to arterial embolism. All untreated receivers of lung had thoracic complications in autopsy. Only 5% of immune suppressively treated receivers were free of complications. Most frequent complications are pleuropulmonary infections. Weighty complications are haemorrhagic infarcts of the transplant and insufficiency of the bronchus. The animal experimental investigations were carried out in 10 female hybrid pigs at the age of 3 to 8 months. The absorption quickness and the dimension of the effective small intestine absorption in dependence on the time does not show any statistically significant differences between both biological systems. {"title":"[Injuries to the epiphyseal groove and bone growth].","authors":"W Kurz","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><p>Lesions of the epiphyseal cartilage of the growing bone lead to disturbances of growth. Experiments in the proximal epiphyseal cartilage of the rabbit tibia was carried out as an instruction about the disturbances of growth after Küntscher-nailing. The injured plane of the epiphyseal cartilage amounted to 2%. The disturbances of growth were analysed in dependence on the produced diaphysis fracture and the placement period of the osteosynthetic material. {"title":"[Glycolysis during hypothermic storage preservation of the liver].","authors":"G Otto, H Wolff, R Häcker","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><p>Porcine livers were preserved for 6 hours by simple hypothermic storage using plasma-protein-fraction, albumin, Collins C2, Ringer solution, and Ring-trickle-perfusion. Following glycolytic metabolites were examined: G6P, F6P, FDP, GAP, 2PG, PEP, pyruvate, and lactate. An alteration of glycolytic metabolite-profile by the different preservation methods was not seen. There is a limitation of glycolysis by the pyruvate-kinase-reaction. Glycolysis decreases depending from preservation time.
