To seek information about current practice, a questionnaire was sent to randomly selected Medical Illustration Units across the United Kingdom. The data indicated that a significant proportion of medical illustrators routinely photograph materials that could be a source of infection, but that a high percentage know little about the specific regulations and guidance which govern the handling of such materials. Apparent deficiencies in safety procedures currently applied in photographing microbiological materials were identified; recommendations that address these problems at little or no cost are proposed.</p>","PeriodicalId":76645,"journal":{"name":"The Journal of audiovisual media in medicine","volume":"27 3","pages":"102-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2004-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1080/01405110400007726","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"25202122","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
