{"title":"[Evaluation of the efficacy of sanguinarine using the experimental gingivitis model].","authors":"A Kurbad, P Gängler, K Kaufmann","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><p>Some studies showed positive results in testing the efficacy of sanguinarine delivered as oral rinse or dentifrice against plaque and gingivitis. The application of a gel containing 0.05 and 0.5% sanguinarine using special trays did not prevent plaque formation in regions with no oral hygiene. In contrast to placebo the 0.5% sanguinaria-gel was able to retard the formation of an experimental gingivitis. Chlorhexidine was superior to sanguinarine. {"title":"[Application of fluoride varnish Duraphat with a cotton carrier respectively a syringe for cartridges--a comparison study].","authors":"S Fischer","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><p>A study for comparing two methods of Duraphat application in children of the 1st and 6st grade was carried out to examine material allowed, expenditure of time, handling of the instruments and hygienic aspects. There was established, that application with syringe for cartridges and bended tubule was better than the application with cotton carrier, concerning both the duration of application and economical aspects of the material allowed. {"title":"[Results valuation of adhesive bridges--3-year study].","authors":"F Espenhayn, M Gey","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><p>139 of 169 adhesive-bridges, incorporated from 1984 bis 1987, were reexaminated in 1988. The failure rate was 37.5% with a mean functional period of 27.3 months. The patients were in average 40.5 years old. Rate of success is discribed depending on the localization and pillar-link-relation. The peaks of loss were after 300 and 900 days incorporation period. {"title":"[The stimulation of the rotation of the mandible with Angle Class II/1 and II/2 malocclusion with functional regulators and activators as compared to the control group].","authors":"P Stüber","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><p>In a teleradiological longitudinal study 86 patients with a Angle class II malocclusion were followed over a period of 4 years to examine the rotation of the mandible. 43 of these patients were treated with a functional regulator according to Fränkel, 22 with an activator and 21 children remained untreated (control group).
