{"title":"Attitudes and opinions on health and medical care - a case study of the rural population of the Eastern Townships (Quebec).","authors":"J P Thouez,&nbsp;L Munan","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><p>This paper presents the relationship between concepts of attitude, perception of the availability of health care, scepticism toward medical care, scepticism toward medical practitioners, dependence resulting from illness and certain socioeconomic and demographic variables. The authors used the multiple classification analysis (M.C.A.) technique to put into operation these relationships. The findings show that age and income are, respectively, the best indicators of the perceptions of the availability of medical care and of the dependence resulting from illness. These findings corroborate the most recent research concerning the use of psychosocial factors to explain accessibility to medical care. {"title":"Rural water supply and the problem of health in village India, case of the Varanasi District.","authors":"R Bilas,&nbsp;R P Singh","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><p>The present paper presents an existential analysis of the condition of rural India in reference to water supply and pollution and the resulting health hazard mainly due to high content of chloride, nitrate, sulphate and the hardness. From the view-point of public health, the prevailing sources of water supply i.e. wells, streams and reservoirs, are the subject of contamination as they are exposed to pollution from surface drainage, household and animal refuse, as well as from the uncleaned buckets used for carrying water.
