Heaton","doi":"10.32388/xrsxrh","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.32388/xrsxrh","url":null,"abstract":"The environmental surveys following the 2010 Deepwater Horizon (DWH) spill identified a variety of hydrocarbon-degrading microorganisms, and laboratory studies with field-collected water samples then demonstrated faster-than-expected hydrocarbon biodegradation rates at 5°C. Knowledge about microbial community composition, diversity, and functional metabolic capabilities aids in understanding and predicting petroleum biodegradation by microbial communities in situ and is therefore an important component of the petroleum spill response decision-making process. This study investigates the taxonomic composition of microbial communities in six different global basins where petroleum and gas activities occur. Shallow-water communities were strikingly similar across basins, while deepwater communities tended to show subclusters by basin, with communities from the epipelagic, mesopelagic, and bathypelagic zones sometimes appearing within the same cluster. Microbial taxa that were enriched in the water column in the Gulf of Mexico following the DWH spill were found across marine basins. Several hydrocarbon-degrading genera (e.g., Actinobacteria, Pseudomonas , and Rhodobacteriacea ) were common across all basins. Other genera such as Pseudoalteromonas and Oleibacter were highly enriched in specific basins. to distinguish all of the taxa that might contribute to petroleum biodegradation (including, e.g., het-erotrophic and nondesignated microbes that respond positively to petroleum and microbes that grow on petroleum as the sole carbon source). This study quantifies the subpopulations of microorganisms that are expected to be involved in petroleum hydrocarbon biodegradation, which is important information during the decision-making process in the event of a petroleum spill accident.","PeriodicalId":75735,"journal":{"name":"Confinia psychiatrica. His exterior, somatic constitution is represented by photos taken during his lifetime as well as some posthumous, imaginary portraits and sculptures by various, mostly Prague, artists. The concept of the artist's psychic formation - his mental makeup - is documented from his diary, dreams, letters, literary work and reports by his friends. The whole proves his introversion, ambivalence, hypersensitivity, obstinancy, anxieties, behavioral anomalies, a life rich in fantasies and his underestimation of his own literary work. (He speaks about it as an idiosyncrasy, wishing it to be burned after his death.) Some little-known drawings by Kafka complement the picture of his talents and creativity. The patient learns the 'symbol language' of the therapist. The more intense the transference, the more evident is the adaptation of the graphic symbolism in the patient's art product to the symbol language of the therapist's analytical school. Sample cases, with predominantly Freudian or Jungian symbols in the patient's sequential graphic expressions, document that conflict resolution can be achieved equally well through different methods of graphic symbol interpretation. A few case histories of immigrants have been reviewed. Hypotheses have been offered how to understand difficulties of exiles starting with nostalgia and extracting 'objective' problems; new language environment, social decline with a complicated path of habilitation in the new place, and the importance of time, both in terms of settling and achieving, as well as the time as an irretrievable loss, and finally xenophobia. However, the more severe the psychiatric disorder, the less important is the fact of the exodus in the etiology of it. {"title":"[Psychoanalytic research on psychopathology and its significance for pedagogy].","authors":"K Köhle","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><p>As we were able to show that endogenous psychoses may also be understood and attended in psychotherapeutic treatment, the research results in the field of psychopathology are also relevant for the discussion of pedagogic problems. The developments of the psychoanalytic research work on psychoses are shown by the work of Paul Matussek. The following points are important for pedagogic discussion: (1) The importance of enrivonmental factors, especially those of parents, for the manifestation of the disease is proved. (2) Psychotherapy is an efficient process of learning. (3) Psychotherapy has a central aim of learning: the strenthening of the self as an assumption of working off unconscious conflicts. In the light of psychoanalytical narcissistic research this interdependence presents itself as a symbiotic relationship of 'real' and 'ideal ego' (= art), the purpose of which it is to regulate the self-esteem of the narcissistically disturbed. Kirchner's example demonstrates well the creative and therapeutic forces set freeby this kind of regulation. An observation from Yucatán lends support to a contrary view. In this brief cult, 20 men, women, and children did not eat, drink, or sleep, speaking and singing in glossolalia instead. The episode was terminated with outside help from men who had experienced a similar outbreak 3 years before.
