The IgA deficiency is combined with the IgE one. IgA are absent both in the serum and in the bronchial secretions; they are present on the surface of B-lymphocytes, also after the enzymatic surface digestion and resynthesis test is performed. With intravenous perfusion of human gamma globulins, during repeated courses, IgA reach a normal level and exceed it, despite the IgA concentration in the perfused compound is very low and despite the fact that injected gamma globulins are not detectable with electrophoretic method. IgA never appear in the bronchial secretion. All were submitted to a standard questionnaire planned to detect respiratory disease due to inhalatory causes. They were submitted to a clinical examination, summary ventilatory function tests, a 70 mm microradiograph, and blood was taken to determine alfa-one antitrypsin and its phenotypes and, in the cork industry workers and rice husking workers, the level of IgA, IgG and IgM. The results are presented and an attempt is made to correlate the various parameters among themselves, and namely alfa-one AT phenotypes with the existence of respiratory pathology. {"title":"Our experience with the early detection of small respiratory diseases.","authors":"B Milanka,&nbsp;B Milanko,&nbsp;V Milanka","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><p>In order to establish which method of examining pulmonic is appropriate for early diagnosis of small respiratory airway diseases, we made examinations of several groups by using different apparatuses and different tests. The first group consisted of 1517 young men. We examined them by MMFR and FEV1 and established that MMFR 25-75/FVC had discovered double number with lessened values than FEV1. {"title":"Evaluation of a test of density-dependence of the expiratory flows in the screening of peripheral airways obstruction.","authors":"G Bonsignore,&nbsp;G Spina,&nbsp;A Rizzo,&nbsp;V Bellia,&nbsp;S Sanci","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><p>A test of density-dependence of flow at 50% of vital capacity has been investigated in two groups of subjects (86 in total) in order to evaluate respectively: a) influences that on it may be exerted by altered mechanical properties of the lung in chronic airflow obstruction; b) accuracy and precision of the test in latent and clinical asthma. Lung elastic recoil pressure does not seem to be related to the intensity of density-dependence. Relationships between MEF50 on air and on He-O2, expressed as means of groups allow distinguish between each other, whereas a definite overlap between groups is patent; absolute flows, either on air or on He-O2 are quite satisfactorily reproducible, both in health and disease.
