Quantitative analysis demonstrated a significant decrease of number of AS synapses, smaller size of AD synaptic knobs, shorter length of the synaptic contact and an increase of the active zone. Evaluation of the shape of the synaptic cleft demonstrated an increase of both positive (P) and negative (N) types in hypothermic animals. The observed morphological changes can be ascribed to the decreased synaptic activity in a greater part of the synaptic population and to the increased activity in a smaller portion of synapses.","PeriodicalId":75423,"journal":{"name":"Acta Universitatis Palackianae Olomucensis Facultatis Medicae","volume":"143 1","pages":"59-62"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2000-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70742488","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A statistically significant decrease in blood serum copper level was revealed in the stutterers under study. The differences between their mode and mean values and that of the control group were 4.6 mumol/l and 3.1 mumol/l, respectively. The negative linear regression between the copper level in serum and the vibratio brevis phenomenon was registered in the stutterers under study. A decreased copper level can be involved in the biochemical abnormalities of male developmental stutterers and it can be included among the factors participating in pathophysiology of an uncertain phonation start.","PeriodicalId":75423,"journal":{"name":"Acta Universitatis Palackianae Olomucensis Facultatis Medicae","volume":"143 1","pages":"71-4"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2000-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70742871","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The members of IL-1 family form a complex system with tight regulatory mechanisms and clarifying their role in disease remains in the centre of research interests. This review article except of summarising recent findings about IL-1 family members focuses on associations of IL-1 gene complex polymorphisms with human diseases.","PeriodicalId":75423,"journal":{"name":"Acta Universitatis Palackianae Olomucensis Facultatis Medicae","volume":"143 1","pages":"19-29"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2000-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70742415","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Primary human hepatocyte culture was the model of choice. Levels of individual CYP isoforms were detected using immunoblotting. Colchicine caused an increase of CYP2E1 protein content, colchiceine and N-deacetylcolchiceine induced isoforms CYP2C9, 2E1 and 3A4 whereas colchicoside induced CYP2C9 and 2E1. The levels of CYP1A2 and 2A6 were unaffected by any of tested compounds. Demecolcine and 3-demethylcolchicine had no effect on any studied P450 isoform. Since colchicine is an exclusive substrate of CYP3A4 whereas it induces CYP2E1, there is a suspicion rather at protein stabilization than at gene induction concerning induction origin.","PeriodicalId":75423,"journal":{"name":"Acta Universitatis Palackianae Olomucensis Facultatis Medicae","volume":"143 1","pages":"47-50"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2000-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70742335","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
