At this moment it is not possible to recommend a particular type of urinary diversion, but today in clinical practice commonly used derivative are ileal orthotopic neobladder as the continent one and ileal conduit as non-continent urinary diversion. Continent urinary diversion after radical cystectomy are the result of the application of technological innovation in surgery, but also knowledge, imagination and skill of well trained urologist. This type of operation significantly improves the quality of life in patients who underwent radical cystectomy, and the proposal is to operate when- ever there is a possibility for this type of procedure. Also it is very important, during surgery to respect oncological principles, of complete removal of tumorous tissue and that the functional principle of ensuring that the patients have daytime and also nighttime continence later on after the surgery.","PeriodicalId":75377,"journal":{"name":"Acta chirurgica Iugoslavica","volume":"61 1","pages":"63-67"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68392445","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Data about GERD related HRQoL in eastern European population are scare. The aim of the study was to evaluate the burden of GERD on patients treated in Serbian primary health care. The study included 1091 patients with diagnosed GERD, treated in Serbian primary health care. All patients completed Serbian version of generic self-administered Center for Disease Control and Prevention questionnaire, CDC-HRQoL-4.In our study, 463 (42%) GERD patients self-rated their current health status as fair or poor, 584 (53%) had poor physical health one or more days during the past 30 days, 460 (42%) had poor mental health one or more days for the same time period. Due to disease symptoms 492 (46%) GERD patients felt depressed one or more days during the past 30 days, 581 (54%) felt tired or sleepy during the same time period. In addition, GERD patients had lower scores regarding number of healthy and unhealthy days. The obtained results had demonstrated that in large proportion, GERD impaired patient everyday lives. A better understanding of the relationships between GERD and impaired HRQoL may allow the physicians in primary health care to manage these patients more effectively in the future.","PeriodicalId":75377,"journal":{"name":"Acta chirurgica Iugoslavica","volume":"57 1","pages":"13-18"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68392781","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most common complication is bleeding; less frequent are intussusception, perforation and intestinal obstruction. Detection of MD and its complications can be challenging, but the combination of video capsule endoscopy (VCE) and double - balloon endoscopy (DBE) allow more precise diagnosis and present a challenge for clinicians. We described two patients with complicated MD: one with perforated diverticulum after enteroscopy, and one with bleeding. Both patients were previously examined for obscure bleeding. Due to the limitation of conventional endoscopy, highly suspected MD is diagnosed with new and innovative methods, VCE and DBE. In the first case the diverticulum was with ectopic gastric tissue, in second case diverticulum was bleeding without ectopic mucosa. Surgical approach required resection method. We need to think about MD if we wish to diagnose and treat its complications.","PeriodicalId":75377,"journal":{"name":"Acta chirurgica Iugoslavica","volume":"61 1","pages":"77-80"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68393041","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Cavernous malformations localized in the brain stem are considered as a separate entity in relation to other intracranial cavernoma. Clinical presentation is specific in terms of focal neurologic deficit, they show aggressive biological behavior and unfavorable clinical course, whereas localization in the brain stem naturally represents the largest surgical problem and challenge and significantly higher operational risk. Results. We report a series of 10 patients with brainstem cavernoma, operated at the Department of Neurosurgery, Clinical Center of Serbia in the period of 2008-2012. In cavernous lesions of the dorsal pons and upper cerebellar peduncul we used the approach through the fourth ventricule, in the laterally localized pontine cavernoma we used the cerebellopontine angle approach, in the cavernoma localized in the central midbrain tegmental area was used supreacerebellar infratentorially approach. Conclusion. Surgical removal of the brainstem cavernoma is absolutely expedient both from the standpoint of preventing recurrent and debilitating hemorrhage and in terms of recovery of neurologic deficit. In patients with disturbed vital functions, the evacuation of the hematoma and removal of the malformation eliminate compression of effects on vital structures of the brain stem.","PeriodicalId":75377,"journal":{"name":"Acta chirurgica Iugoslavica","volume":"61 1","pages":"33-38"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68393386","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
