To complete the theory of innovation, it is required to show whether innovation contributed to improvements in business performance. A further focus of this paper is on the role of ICT and R&D in the innovation process. ICT plays a vital role in absorbing information from outside the firm, while R&D is essential for assimilating obtained information with existing resources to create something novel. The focus of this paper is on the joint effect of these two factors. The estimation is based on a two-stage probit instrumental variable (IV) panel model and the authors' own survey data of 2012 and 2018. The dependent variables are innovation in the first equation and sales in the second. The results obtained show that (i) innovation enhances sales; (ii) R&D is significant for innovation; (iii) ICT is not significant for either of the equations; and (iv) the cross term of R&D and ICT is significant for innovation, implying that ICT is an enabler of innovation. These are novel results.</p>","PeriodicalId":75184,"journal":{"name":"The review of socionetwork strategies","volume":"17 1","pages":"55-71"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10072803/pdf/","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"9375233","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To make telecommuting the \"new normal,\" it is essential to not only change the legal system and employment contracts but also reform organizational processes. Prior research has demonstrated a positive correlation between telecommuting and perceived autonomy using questionnaire surveys, but the lack of a widely accepted measurement scale to capture the reality of telecommuting has hindered the capacity to understand its current status. In this study, we conducted unstructured interview surveys to elucidate the mechanisms of the relationship of perceived autonomy and telecommuting, while focusing on perceived autonomy in organizational processes. The paper is organized as follows: it reviews previous studies on telecommuting and describes the related advantages and disadvantages; examines changes in the environment and attitudes based on interviews conducted with employed telecommuters; examines changes in telecommuters' attitudes toward perceived autonomy.</p>","PeriodicalId":75184,"journal":{"name":"The review of socionetwork strategies","volume":"17 1","pages":"87-103"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10047464/pdf/","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"9761958","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The hypotheses are: (1) the positive relationship between job/life satisfaction and telework exists, (2) the optimum frequency of telework exists, (3) the effects of telework are different among regular and non-regular employees, and (4) telework can increase the satisfaction of childcare, but its effects are different among male and female employees. One of the most comprehensive panel data, including the frequency of telework and some kinds of satisfaction, is used. The method of statistical analysis is a random-effects ordered probit regression model, because the variables of telework are possibly endogenous. One of the contributions of this study is to consider telework as endogenous. The main results of statistical analysis indicated: (1) a positive relationship between job satisfaction and the frequency of telework was observed as well as life satisfaction, (2) the effect of telework on the job and life satisfaction was the largest in the case that its frequency was less than 50%, (3) the job and life satisfactions of regular employees were affected by the frequency of telework in all case, and for non-regular employees, its effects were observed in the lower frequency cases of less than 50% and irregular, and (4) the increase of the childcare satisfaction by telework was observed in male employees rather than in female employees.</p>","PeriodicalId":75184,"journal":{"name":"The review of socionetwork strategies","volume":"17 1","pages":"3-23"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10123563/pdf/","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"9761960","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
