One of the most current major challenges is the achievement of high-energy, near single-cycle pulses. Such performances are of primary interest in attosecond science for producing intense isolated bursts of extreme ultraviolet light through high-harmonic generation in gases or solids. We present here a detailed experimental and numerical study on a helium filled hollow-core fiber-based post-compression stage. Our measurements highlight the importance of the width and phase of the input spectrum on the spectral broadening, and on the resulting post-compressed pulse. Near Fourier-transform-limited pulses as short as 3.5 fs, carrying a 2.5 mJ energy centered at 750 nm at 1 kHz repetition rate, and leading to a compression factor greater than seven, are demonstrated. The numerical results are in good agreement with the experimental data. Here, spectral broadening is governed by the Kerr effect and the self-steepening on the trailing edge of the guided pulse.","PeriodicalId":74366,"journal":{"name":"Optics continuum","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135774888","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The calculation result is used for researching the influences of edge dislocation on optical vortex transmission. The research shows that due to the edge dislocation, when the optical vortex's topological charge is greater than +1, the optical vortex will no longer carry out steady transmission in the free space transmission. Instead, it will divide into two optical vortices, and the distance between them will gradually increase as the transmission distance increases. Optical vortex will split in turbulent atmosphere propagation. Due to the edge dislocation, when the topological charge of optical vortex is greater than +2, it is found that the distance between one optical vortex and other optical vortices is much larger than that between other optical vortices. Besides, when there's an edge dislocation, the greater the light wavelength and the structure constant are, the smaller the distance between the optical vortex and the edge dislocation on the source plane is, and the evolution of the optical vortex will be accelerated.","PeriodicalId":74366,"journal":{"name":"Optics continuum","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135775593","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, applications are often limited by detector cost, resolution and sensitivity, noise caused by the thermal IR background, and the cost, portability and tunability of infrared sources. Here, we describe a compact, portable, and low-cost system that is able to image objects at IR wavelengths without an IR source or IR detector. This imaging with undetected photons (IUP) approach uses quantum interference and correlations between entangled photon pairs to transfer image information from the IR to a wavelength which can be detected with a standard silicon camera. We also demonstrate a rapid analysis approach to acquire both phase and transmission image information. These developments provide an important step towards making IUP a commercially viable technique.","PeriodicalId":74366,"journal":{"name":"Optics continuum","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135775588","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The optical attributes were determined by a 4 × 4 transfer matrix procedure. The findings demonstrate that perfect absorption is completely reliant on the structural characteristics of the FP cavity throughout a broad range of terahertz frequencies. From the obtained dataset, numerical formulae are generated for structural parameters ( N FD , N BD ) using a linear regression machine learning algorithm to achieve higher than 90% absorption. The artificial neural network trained using our dataset provided a coefficient of determination ( R 2 )=1, opening up new pathways to design perfect terahertz absorbers. Furthermore, we explored the influence of magnetic biasing on absorption traits, and our findings show that fine absorption improvement is conceivable. The formulated numerical relations have greater importance in the design of perfect terahertz absorbers.","PeriodicalId":74366,"journal":{"name":"Optics continuum","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135775594","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It operates in the spectral range of 1588 nm to 1673 nm with a nominal spectral resolution of 0.5 nm and has a total weight of approximately 1.8 kg. We outline the optical design of the instrument, including its fore-optics (telescope), and evaluate its performance using the OpticStudio ZEMAX software. In addition, we explain the spectral and radiometric calibration procedures and present the results. Our preliminary data reduction and analysis revealed a high quality SWIR image and a single path measurement of an atmospheric profile displaying the absorption lines of CH 4 and CO 2 .","PeriodicalId":74366,"journal":{"name":"Optics continuum","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135874631","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We compare it with unexposed spun fiber which shows a S/P minimum ratio (signal noise floor) 20 dB higher than when using our ROGUE. High sensitivity magnetic field measurements are achieved by spatially filtering (setting a gage length) the derivative of the S/P ratio's evolution. Example of a calibrated electromagnet spatially resolved B-field measurement is demonstrated, which can measure fields down to 10 mT with 10 cm spatial resolution. The potential for current sensing using such ROGUE apparatus is discussed and simulation shows a noise floor of around 1 A with 40 probing loops spatial resolution.","PeriodicalId":74366,"journal":{"name":"Optics continuum","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139314141","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
