The paper studies the properties of highly filled sealing compositions based on low-molecular polyisobutylene grade PB-1300 (with a polymer binder content of 10–15%) intended for temporary sealing of refrigeration equipment. It is shown that, in a certain concentration range, an increase in the filler content leads to an increase in strength. A necessary component of highly filled compositions based on a nonpolar oligomer and a polar filler is a compatibilizer, in this case, stearic acid. It is found that petrolatum can be used to regulate the properties of compositions under study, primarily their viscosity properties. However, it should be taken into account that its introduction leads to deterioration of the physical and mechanical properties of compositions. These studies are of scientific and practical interest to developers and manufacturers of nonhardening highly filled sealing materials.</p>","PeriodicalId":741,"journal":{"name":"Polymer Science, Series D","volume":"18 1","pages":"47 - 50"},"PeriodicalIF":0.58,"publicationDate":"2025-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"144117547","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

During deep and through impregnation with a colored solution, wood is colored due to the solution moving inside the wood through the cavities of cells having a tubular structure. Having penetrated inside the wood through the capillaries of vessels, tracheids and medullary rays, the dye colors the cell walls, diffusing into their intercapillary spaces. In this case, the cell walls are colored more intensively than the cell cavities. The increase in the strength of modified wood is explained by insufficient water adsorption due to a decrease in the diameter of tracheids filled with the modifier solution; apparently, this is also associated with a decrease in the contact area with water of the glue–wood boundary layer due to a decrease in the size of the cell cavities. The shear strength along the fibers corresponds to the European standard EN205 D4. The increase in water resistance of modified wood is due to the fact that urea compacts the wood and gives it increased dimensional stability.</p>","PeriodicalId":741,"journal":{"name":"Polymer Science, Series D","volume":"18 1","pages":"142 - 145"},"PeriodicalIF":0.58,"publicationDate":"2025-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"144117771","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
