While clozapine is an effective treatment for patients with TRS, there are some barriers to clozapine prescribing in these patients. The study aims to explore the barriers from Iranian psychiatrists' points of view. The study was conducted by a qualitative approach using content analysis. The Participants included 12 psychiatrists who were selected purposefully. Data were collected using a semi-structured interview from May to December 2020. All interviews were recorded and transcribed and analyzed qualitatively using constant comparisons. Three main categories emerged concerning barriers to the use of clozapine: drug-related barriers, psychiatrist and health system-related barriers, and patient and family-related barriers. Additionally, specific subcategories within each main category were documented. The present study showed that there are three main groups of barriers to the use of clozapine in patients with TRS. Psychiatrist and health system-related barriers may influence the other two groups of barriers. Further research to investigate the effective strategies to overcome the barriers is recommended.
","PeriodicalId":73916,"journal":{"name":"Journal of psychosocial rehabilitation and mental health","volume":"10 1","pages":"45-53"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9362075/pdf/","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"9375925","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aimed to explore the lived experiences of mental health recovery in people of culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds in the Australian context. The current study involved a secondary analysis of audio and visual data collected during the digital storytelling project Finding our way in Melbourne, Australia. Thematic analysis was used to understand the lived experience narratives of nine participants in relation to mental health recovery. Five themes were identified through an iterative process of analysis, including Newfound opportunities and care, Family as key motivators and facilitators, Coping and generativity, Cultivating self-understanding and resilience, and Empowerment through social engagement. First person lived experience narratives offer deep insight into understanding the ways in which individuals of marginalised communities conceptualise and embody recovery. These findings further the literature and understanding on how to better serve the needs of people with mental health challenges from CALD communities through informed knowledge of what may be helpful to, and meaningful in, individuals' recoveries.
","PeriodicalId":73916,"journal":{"name":"Journal of psychosocial rehabilitation and mental health","volume":" ","pages":"1-26"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9735058/pdf/","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"10401544","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study sought to understand the impact of the mental healthcare changes associated with COVID-19 on people living with severe and persisting mental illness (SPMI) and staff working in rehabilitation teams in Queensland in Australia. Telephone interviews were completed with participants diagnosed with SPMI who were supported by the rehabilitation teams of a public mental health service (n = 18). Additionally, an anonymous survey was completed with staff from these teams (n = 20, 17.5% of staff). Both datasets were analysed separately using thematic analysis. Four themes were identified through the analysis of the patient interviews: wishing the whole thing would go away; [COVID-19 has] delayed my recovery; being more socially aware; and (you've) got to be clean (which is a) good thing. Four themes emerged through the analysis of the staff survey data: needing to change the model of care; impact on patients, the impact on staff, positive impact. The perceived impact on participant's mental health was like that which was reported in the general population. Participants' emphasised anxiety, loneliness, boredom, and depression rather than a relapse of their primary psychotic illness. Participants noted the pandemic slowed the pace of personal recovery and limited the delivery of specialised rehabilitation programs.

Supplementary information: The online version contains supplementary material available at 10.1007/s40737-022-00320-5.
","PeriodicalId":73916,"journal":{"name":"Journal of psychosocial rehabilitation and mental health","volume":" ","pages":"1-11"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9686248/pdf/","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"35207956","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
