In this study, exploration on the prevalence of work-family conflict and how this affects the subjective well-being of dual earner couples was done to come up with interventions to take care of the subjective well-being of the dual-earner couples. This study utilized stratified random sampling and two self-administered questionnaires which intend to measure the work-family conflict, family-work conflict and subjective well-being and quantitative descriptive-survey approach to interpret the data collected. The results revealed that dual-earner couples experience more work-to-family conflict than family-to-work conflict. And women experience higher workfamily conflict than men. Consequently, women also experience less life satisfaction than men. These findings lead us to the conclusion on the extent to which work-family conflict is prevalent among dual-earner couples as well as the degree of impact on their subjective well-being. Simultaneously, interventions such as utilization of offset, vacation leave and sick leave, strict implementation of adequate amount of breaks throughout the day, support groups, and encourage the right to log out that restricts time spent at work after work hours is proposed to lessen work-family conflict and improve subjective well-being.","PeriodicalId":73758,"journal":{"name":"Journal of global health economics and policy","volume":"8 16","pages":"1-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72493243","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this study cross sectional data was collected from 184 randomly selected smallholder farm households in the district. The survey data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and double-hurdle model. From the descriptive statistics it was found that the level of commercialization of sesame in the district was 79%, which by far above the national commercialization average (35%).","PeriodicalId":73758,"journal":{"name":"Journal of global health economics and policy","volume":"26 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76350877","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Per capita GDP development in the post-1980 globalizers quickened from 1.4 percent a year during the 1960s and 2.9 percent a year during the 1970s to 3.5 percent during the 1980s and 5.0 percent during the 1990s. This increasing speed in development is significantly more surprising given that the rich nations saw consistent decreases in development from a high of 4.7 percent during the 1960s to 2.2 percent during the 1990s. Likewise, the non-globalizing agricultural nations did a lot of more awful than the globalizers, with the previous' yearly development rates tumbling from highs of 3.3 percent during the 1970s to just 1.4 percent during the 1990s.","PeriodicalId":73758,"journal":{"name":"Journal of global health economics and policy","volume":"59 1","pages":"1-2"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86044857","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While some sectors such as aviation and tourism experienced a sharp decline in demand, others felt some growth. For example, the media and food retail industry are some of the sectors that have benefitted from the pandemic. They experienced a rise in demand for products and services as lockdowns and other measures to reduce the spread of the coronavirus forced people to remain at home and use online channels for entertainment and to order goods. Nevertheless, the COVID-19 pandemic has severely affected the globalization of consumption by lowering people's incomes and reducing the demand for goods and services. It indicates the need for governments to use a fiscal policy that involves changes to taxes and higher spending to boost people’s incomes and trigger growth through higher consumption. Thus, the economic challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic have caused a decline in the globalization of consumption but a fiscal policy will be useful in overcoming the problems and enabling nations to resume growth.","PeriodicalId":73758,"journal":{"name":"Journal of global health economics and policy","volume":"25 1","pages":"1-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86751399","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The choice depends critically on the nature of the decision problem. In particular, the decision-maker needs to be clear on what is to be maximized (e.g. health or welfare more generally), whether there is a budget constraint and whether any other factors (e.g. equity) need to be considered. This chapter summarizes the key strengths and limitations of commonly applied priority setting tools with a particular focus on how they differ in terms of the elements of benefit considered, how these are valued or combined, the extent to which budgetary constraints are recognized and the implicit or explicit criteria used to make a decision on adoption of the programmes being evaluated.","PeriodicalId":73758,"journal":{"name":"Journal of global health economics and policy","volume":"22 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81958137","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
