Power-distance-oriented leadership is thought ineffective in fostering subordinates innovative values. This study contributes to organisational learning literature by examining whether participative leadership plays a mediating role to adjust the undesired impact in innovative culture acculturation. The sample comes from employees in four types of firms differing in ownership across two Chinese business clusters to represent level of organisational Westernisation. The findings reveal supports for the hypothesised relationships between firm ownership and subordinate work values accounted for this Westernisation connection: the state-owned and foreign-controlled businesses appear to hold the old and the new values on the two extremes separately; the privately owned fall somewhere in between. Additional mediation analysis suggests that an adjustment of manager's leadership from power-distance to participative can help reduce the negative impacts to foster subordinates innovative values, regardless of the old.","PeriodicalId":73431,"journal":{"name":"International journal of Chinese culture and management","volume":"4 1","pages":"30"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41875870","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The contributing factors in growth of carbon emissions embodied in China's agricultural export is then decomposed into scale effect, structure effect and technical effect, with which overall and sectional analysis are made through LMDI model. The empirical results show that scale effect is the main reason for the rise of carbon emissions embodied in China's agricultural export. Technical effect is the most important factor to inhibit the growth of embodied carbon emissions from agricultural export products. But it does not necessarily lead to a drop of embodied carbon emissions of agricultural products due to the increases of the rigid demand for energy and intensity of energy consumption in China's agricultural sectors. The influence of structure effect on changes of carbon emissions embodied in China's agricultural export remains less significant so far.","PeriodicalId":73431,"journal":{"name":"International journal of Chinese culture and management","volume":"4 1","pages":"51"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48830314","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The financial data of 'Special Treatment' companies during the period from 2002 to 2009 have been compared with that of financially non-distressed companies from the same period by applying discriminant analysis. The study finds that as many as five financial ratios, namely cash flow coverage ratio, net income to assets, cash ratio, quick ratio, current ratio and debt ratio, are significantly weaker in financially distressed companies.","PeriodicalId":73431,"journal":{"name":"International journal of Chinese culture and management","volume":"4 1","pages":"19"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48566106","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
