This study, it is aimed to evaluate the nutrition label reading habits of Turkish consumers and their knowledge levels about nutrition labels and claims.\u0000Method: The population of the research consists of 1,195 volunteers, 597 males and 598 females, aged between 18-65 years. The data of the study were collected using a face-to-face interview technique through a questionnaire. With the questionnaire form, descriptive information of individuals, reading habits of nutrition labels, information about nutrition label content, and preferred information and statements on nutrition labels were questioned.\u0000Results: In the study, it was found that the rate of reading the packaging information, the need to research an ingredient in its composition after reading the nutrition label (p<0.001) and hearing some terms used frequently in the food industry (such as colorants, preservatives, sweeteners, etc.) (p<0.05) of those who find the label information important when purchasing food is higher than those who do not find it important in both genders and total participants. In addition, in the study, it was determined that those who knew the nutrition claims on the nutrition labels in all groups prefer more some nutrition claims such as “reduced energy” and “trans-fats free” among the most read nutrition claims (p<0.001).\u0000Conclusions: These results suggest that instilling the importance of reading nutrition labels and teaching nutrition claims to individuals in the community may be a cost-effective intervention to encourage consumers to make healthier food choices and acquire healthier eating habits.

To assist, telemedicine emerged as a suitable alternative to physical physician consultations. However, the use of telemedicine for dementia care was impacted by numerous factors, including high costs, lack of suitable hardware, poor internet connectivity, and sensory impairment of the patient. This article is an attempt to analyze the use of telemedicine for dementia care during the COVID-19 pandemic and identify barriers to its usage from caregivers’ perspectives. The analysis focused on four identified categories of barriers related to technology, participant abilities, participant attitudes, and costs. The findings demonstrated that lack of suitable technology and digital literacy were major barriers to the adoption of telemedicine in dementia care.

Between 2020-2022, PSH residents (n=231) were recruited from congregate and scattered site PSH in Montreal (Quebec/Canada). Multivariate logistic regression was used to test associations between QoL and PSH characteristics. Most participants (62%) reported deterioration in QoL. Decreased in PSH follow-up care and biopsychosocial services other than those from physicians, especially in basic needs, having still mental disorders (MD) or COVID-19 were found the most associated with QoL deterioration. Residing in PSH for 10+ years versus <2 years, high satisfaction with PSH, and access to public specialized outpatient services were identified as protective factors against deterioration in QoL. The findings demonstrated that comprehensive services for PSH residents may be intensified during a pandemic to protect against deterioration in QoL.

In the present study, we investigated the presence of Legionella according to ISO 11731:2017 in water samples, collected from five regions of Northern Greece. The results showed that 64 (8.9%) out of the 595 collected samples were positive for Legionella. Furthermore, 23 (35.9%) and 14 (21.9%) out of the 64 isolated Legionella strains were confirmed as L. pneumophila serogroup 1 and L. pneumophila serogroup 2-15, respectively, while the remaining 27 (42.2%) isolates were characterized as non-pneumophila Legionella spp. The findings of this study offer proof that Legionella remains a significant public health concern. They will aid in enhancing our comprehension of Legionella’s epidemiology in Greece and assist in implementing efficient control measures to minimize its occurrence in water meant for human consumption.

It is a chronic cerebrovascular pathology characterized by stenosis and progressive occlusion of the termination of the carotid arteries. It is of reserved prognosis. Its diagnosis can be evoked on computerized tomography and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) but is essentially based on arteriography. Its treatment must be early and essentially consists of revascularization surgery. We report the case of a patient admitted to the psychiatric emergency room for management of a behavioral disorder, mutism and auditory and visual hallucination, a cerebral MRI was performed urgently and the diagnosis of MMD was laid. Through this observation and a review of the literature, we discuss the characteristics of this rare condition, in particular the psychiatric comorbidity.

By controlling gene expression in β-cells and adipocytes, OCN improves glucose intolerance, obesity, and insulin expression. In addition, OCN stimulates the secretion of adiponectin, a molecule that increases fatty acid oxidation and insulin secretion and sensitivity in adipose tissue and reduces adipose tissue accumulation. Recent research suggests that serum OCN increases the expression of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma coactivator-1α (PGC-1α) and uncoupling protein-1 (UCP1) genes, which play a role in thermogenesis in brown adipose tissue, it also affects insulin sensitivity by increasing adiponectin expression in white adipose tissue. OCN the target gene of insulin, and resting energy expenditure and mitochondrial biogenesis. With all these effects, OCN is a protein that has recently been found to be associated with diabetes and obesity components. Conclusions: This review aims to present an overview of understanding the interaction of OCN produced by osteoblasts with insulin, glucose metabolism, adipose tissue, skeletal and muscle tissue, and appetite metabolism in understanding the endocrine functions of bone. In addition, it was conducted to examine the role of OCN in energy metabolism and to evaluate the relationship of energy metabolism pathways affected by OCN with non-communicable chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes mellitus and obesity.

The questionnaire method has been used to collect data in the study. The questionnaire consists of two parts. In the first part of it ‘‘the socio-demographic characteristics form’’ and in the second part of it ‘‘the first-aid self-efficacy scale’’, which is used to determine the mothers’ first-aid self-efficacy, were included. The analysis of the research data is performed with SPSS statistical program.\u0000Results: The age range of the participants in the study is 19-46 years and the mean age is 29.41±7.40 years. 46.2% of the mothers are 19-28 years old, 93.3% are married, 39.2% are graduated from high school, and 54.8% are housewives. 86.3% of the mothers state that they have not had the first-aid training and 42.9% of them state that they have encountered a situation requiring the first-aid resulting mostly (60.1%) in an injury. The mean score of the scale is 30.90±9.50.\u0000Conclusions: In our study, it is found that the first-aid self-efficacy of mothers is low. The mothers with an undergraduate degree have higher first-aid self-efficacy than the ones who graduated from a primary school and those who had the first-aid training have higher first-aid self-efficacy than the ones who did not receive the first-aid training. To increase the first-aid self-efficacy of mothers, the first-aid trainings should be organized by public/private health institutions and non-governmental organizations, practices should be made on models and repeated periodically. It is suggested that more centers and fathers to be included in these trainings in the future.
