Methods: The study used a descriptive and cross-sectional design to examine 80 patients who came to the outpatient chemotherapy unit of two university hospitals to receive chemotherapy drugs such as taxane, platinum analogs and vinca alkaloids. The data were collected by using face-to-face interview method through “General Information Form”, “S-LANSS Pain Scale” that is a bedside test for distinctive diagnosis of neuropathic pain and “Health Assessment Questionnaire (HAQ)” which is a scale prepared by the researcher and measures daily activities to evaluate physical disability. Results: In the group with neuropathic pain, HAQ scores ( p = .003; p < .01) and S-LANSS scores ( p = .005; p < .01) of the patients who did not have hand-foot complaints prior to the treatment but experienced hand-foot discomfort with the beginning of chemotherapy treatment, were found to be statistically significantly higher. There was a statistically significant positive relation between HAQ score and S-LANSS pain score at the level of 61.2% ( r = 0.612; p = .001; p < .01). Patients experience neck pain and limitation to the range of motion following surgery. The study’s aim was to assess the effect of neck range of motion exercises on neck disability and pain among patients undergoing thyroidectomy. Methods: A quasi-experimental research design was utilized, the research was carried out at the surgical department in Shebin Emergency Hospital, at Shebin El-Kom District, Menoufia Governorate, Egypt. Sample; 90 adult subjects undergoing thyroidectomy and are welcoming to participate in the current research. Four Instruments for data collection: Instrument (1): Interview questionnaire sheet consists of two parts to assess subjects’ socio-demographic and medical data. Instrument (2): Visual analog pain scale to rate the patients’ level of pain intensity. Instrument (3): Neck disability index to assess neck pain and its effect on patients’ ability to perform daily activities. Instrument (4): Compliance assessment sheet to follow the patient’s adherence with neck range of motion exercise. Results: There was no statistically significant difference found between study and control group socio-demographic characteristics and medical history while there was a statistically significant difference between study and control group concerning neck disability and pain after one week and four weeks post-operative thyroidectomy. Conclusions: Patient compliance with a range of motion exercises significantly improves neck movement in order to be able to carry out daily life activities and reducing pain for the study group in comparison with the control group. Methods: The study accompanied through a quasi-experimental design with all nurse interns who registered in internship year, in operating rooms and critical care units at El Demerdash Hospital which are allied to Ain Shams University Hospitals. A triple-section questionnaire was used for data collection: First, part I - nurse interns’ socio demographic profile. Part II - self-administered knowledge questionnaire. Second, nurse interns’ performance observational checklist. Third, Brooks’ Quality of Nursing Work Life survey. Results: The study reported that nurse intern’ knowledge and practice related to workplace ergonomics were improved in the post intervention and follow up phases. Also, interns’ total quality of nursing work life was highly statistically significant different during post intervention and follow up phases when compared with pre intervention phase. Conclusions: The findings of this study concluded that ergonomics training intervention had positive impact on nurse interns’ work life quality in post and after three months from the intervention of training intervention compared to the pre intervention phase. This cross-sectional study, comprising 106 people living with HIV who were evaluated in an HIV-AIDS outpatient clinic in Fortaleza, Northeast of Brazil, data collection were conducted during August and November 2018. A saliva sample was also collected to isolate Candida. The virulence factors of extracellular and hemolytic phospholipase activities in isolated Candida strains were analyzed. The prevalence of oral Candida was 40.6%, and the presence of oral Candida was associated with smoking habits ( p = .005), daily smoking ( p = .026), low weight ( p = .030), history of hospitalization ( p = .014), TCD4 lymphocyte count < 200 cells/mm3 ( p = .018), and detectable viral load ( p = .005). The multivariate analysis revealed that the variables smoking habits ( p = .008), viral load ( p = .011), and body mass index ( p = .011) were associated with the presence of oral Candida. Strong hemolytic and phospholipase activities were, respectively, identified in 74.4% and 72% of the isolated strains, mainly Candida albicans. Methods: A quasi-experimental research design was implemented on a purposive sample of 105 students registered in the maternity nursing course, Mansoura University, Egpyt. The participants were assigned to the comparison group; who were subjected to the conventional clinical demonstration, the video demonstration group who watched a video clip about the procedure of abdominal examination in pregnancy, or to the blended teaching group, who received both teaching methods. Four tools were used in data collection. Assessment sheet for demographics, student’s knowledge and performance were evaluated by Multiple Choice Questions test and performance checklist respectively, while a self-rating scale was used for confidence in clinical performance and satisfaction with the teaching method. Results: Immediately post-intervention, the blended teaching group had the highest knowledge score compared to the clinical demonstration and video demonstration groups (33.8 ± 1.8 vs. 30.3 ± 1.9 and 24.5 ± 2.8 respectively, p < .001), and 38.0 ± 3.1 vs. 33.0 ± 1.2 and 28.0 ± 2.4 at 2 weeks evaluation and had the highest performance scores (7.8 ± 0.9 and 9.1 ± 0.8, p < .001) immediately and at 2 weeks post-intervention respectively. Similarly, the blended teaching group had the highest confidence in clinical performance and satisfaction with the teaching strategies scores in comparison to the other two groups post-intervention (8.9 ± 0.9 and 9.4 ± 0.5 respectively; p < .001). Methods: The study is quasi-experimental conducted in Shams Specialized Hospital, Dar el-Shefaa hospital in Cairo, and Dar El Foad Hospital. Study subjects were composed of two groups: managers (nurse and medical) and patients. Three questionnaires were used for data collection (Managers’ knowledge about artificial intelligence, Managers’ perception of artificial intelligence, and patients’ perception about the application of AI in healthcare). Results: All of the managers, either nurse or medical, had a lack of knowledge about AI. Nurse Managers perceived most items positively regarding the application of artificial intelligence in nursing, while medical managers perceived all items positively regarding the application of artificial intelligence in medicine. On the same line, the highest percentage of patients agreed upon the application of artificial intelligence in healthcare. Conclusions: There was a highly significant difference ( p < .001) between managers’ knowledge about AI before and after awareness sessions. The majority of nurses and medical managers’ perceived the application of AI positively in nursing and medicine. Methods: Integrative review of the literature. Results: Sudan is one of the countries in Africa where the practice of female genital mutilation (FGM), cutting or circumcision is \u0000considered a social norm. This is a deeply rooted traditional cultural practice that is still prevalent in many developing countries. \u0000Healthcare professionals in Australia are ill equipped to care for women and children who have undergone this procedure. This \u0000paper explores the Sudanese refugee community in Shepparton, Victoria to explore the nursing considerations caring for women \u0000affected by FGM within the Australian health care context. Reducing the number of punctures when placing an intravenous (IV) cannula reduces pain and further suffering for the patient. At the same time, the proper technique of IV cannulas save time for healthcare providers. Background: The method of securing venous access by intravenous cannula is part of the teaching of medical and nursing study programs. Critical thinking is the essential skill necessary to assess any information, explain the causes, and the ability to solve problems. University education develops this skill through strategic teaching of simulation methods. Methods: In connection with new information of the method of IV cannulas by “magic movement”, we decided to use the Core model for critical reflection designed by Cottrell (2010), to evaluate new techniques in preclinical education of students from general medicine and nursing on IV cannulation in simulation laboratories. Results: The results have shown that student performance levels will be increased by applying critical thinking and simulation as an option for integrated preclinical training for future healthcare professionals. Conclusions: Innovative method of introducing peripheral IV cannula provides a framework to guide curriculum development and teaching strategies as well as to support the advancement of cognitive and empirical skills of healthcare professionals.
