Among the applicable methods, we selected sedimentation determination of wet biomass and dry biomass determination. Of the 369 samples analysed, the median volumetric zooplankton biomass was 0.012 ml.l -1 and the median dry weight of the samples was 0.44 mg.l -1 . There was a relatively close relationship between the volumetric biomass determination and the zooplankton dry weight determination, allowing only one of these methods to be used. Due to the variation of results over a wide range of values, it is more appropriate to use a logarithmic expression for the correlation. No statistically conclusive relationship was found between the zooplankton biomass determined and any of the other physico-chemical or production parameters. Nevertheless, it was possible to trace the influence of fish production, altitude and nutrient content (nitrogen and phosphorus) on the size of zooplankton biomass. The use of screening determination methods can be recommended especially for long-term monitoring of sites to get a quick overview of zooplankton","PeriodicalId":7174,"journal":{"name":"Acta Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43168939","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The experiment was a split split plots based on randomized complete block design with three factors and three replicates in the research farm of Medicinal Plants Research Center, Shahed University, Tehran, Iran, during 2019– 2020. The factors were drought stress with 4 levels (non-stress, mild, moderate, and severe) as the main factor, nitrogen with 4 levels (0, 30, 60, and 90 kg ha -1 nitrogen from the source of urea) as the sub-factor and methanol with 3 levels (0, 10, and 30%) as sub-sub-factor. Nitrogen treatments (except the 0 level) were each applied in three stages of black seed growth: 1) one-third at the same time as planting, 2) one-third at the stage of 4–6 leaves, and 3) one-third at the beginning of flowering. Methanol foliar application was done once at the first capsule formation stage and again at an interval of seven days later. Two days after the second time of methanol spraying, the data on biochemical traits (chlorophyll, proline and protein contents) and in the end of generative stage, agronomical (seed yield) and phytochemical compounds were measured. The results indicated that main effects and interactions significantly affected all biochemical traits and yield. The results showed that the yield under drought stress conditions decreased (11.67%) in comparison to the control, while the yield increased (5.7%) in comparison to control by applying the nitrogen and methanol. The interaction of methanol and nitrogen had significant effects on the amount of grain yield, chlorophyll, proline, protein, carotenoid contents and oil of seed. The results indicated that the interaction of drought stress-nitrogen, drought stress-methanol and nitrogen-methanol had significant effects on chlorophyll, proline, protein, carotenoid contents, oil seed and yield. The results showed the highest seed oil (717 kg/ha) in the interaction of without drought stress, 90 kg/ha nitrogen. Therefore, the application of 10% methanol and 90 kg/ha nitrogen under drought stress was the most effective treatments on increasing the yield and phytochemical compounds in black cumin.","PeriodicalId":7174,"journal":{"name":"Acta Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42958123","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the Republic of Kazakhstan, near and far abroad, technical means for subsoil application to a depth of more than 14 cm with a differentiated application system for non-moldboard processing are not produced. Therefore, such work has not been carried out, which does not allow evaluating the effectiveness of the use of modern electronic systems for driving aggregates and differentiated application of fertilizers for flat-cutting cultivation on the southern chernozems of the northern region of Kazakhstan. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of different equilibration times and freezing rates on post-thaw resilience and functional integrity. Collected semen from five Holstein bulls (30 samples in total) were split into 4 aliquots to produce frozen straws after 2 different equilibration times (2 h and 4 h) and freezing rates (2-phase and 3-phase). After thawing, the sperm characteristics were measured by flow cytometry. A linear model procedure was used to determine the effects of bull, equilibration time, freezing rate and interaction between them, on sperm variables. The evaluated sperm characteristics included spermatozoa with intact plasma and acrosomal membrane (PMAI), PMAI with high mitochondrial membrane potential (HMMP), spermatozoa with plasma membrane damage (PMD), and spermatozoa with acrosome damage (AD) were analysed immediately, 1 h and 2 h after thawing. In conclusion, the extension of the equilibration time from to 4 h in combination with 2-phase freezing rate led to a significant improvement in all measured parameters of frozen-thawed spermatozoa (P < 0.01).","PeriodicalId":7174,"journal":{"name":"Acta Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41680181","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A sample of 807 cows of various ages was formed for the study. The cows were kept on a commercial farm in Kharkiv region, Ukraine. Data from DairyPlan C21 software were used in the study. It was revealed that the parameters of the Wood lactation curve model were significantly influenced by the calving season, days open, and cow's origin; lactation persistency of cows was more influenced by environmental factors (parity, calving season, days open) than by the sire. In order to improve the level of reproduction in dairy herds, it is advisable to take into account the lactation persistency of cows, since it has negative relationship with days open (r = -0.074). To improve lactation persistency it is necessary to use for insemination of cows semen of sires with high breeding values for this trait.","PeriodicalId":7174,"journal":{"name":"Acta Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43909318","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The comparison was performed between fraternal twins (full sisters), produced on the same farm and same parity. One of the twins produced in a hot period whereas her sister produced in a cooler period. Also, there can be differences in milk production between fraternal twins. Therefore, a second group of fraternal twins was also created that produced without heat stress. Databases of fraternal twins were analysed using PROC GLM analysis of Statistica ® with selected effects. In conclusion, a negative effect of heat stress on milk production was found. There was an obvious tendency (in some cases insignificant) for worse milk production during heat stress in both the daily milk yield during hot days and in 1 st lactation started in the hot season. Fat content (in %) was also lower in the hot period but differences were insignificant. On the other hand, there was found very low differences in milk production (and milk components) between fraternal twins produced in season without heat stress.","PeriodicalId":7174,"journal":{"name":"Acta Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41843290","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
