This paper uses the regional sector division method to divide the urban land into 8 orientations, based on the urban land space compaction index, and designs a sector partition compaction index. Based on the remote sensing image data of 1990, 2000, 2010, and 2020, the spatial characteristics of urban land expansion of Luoyang are analyzed by using the partition compaction index, expansion intensity index, fractal dimension, and standard deviation ellipse. The results show that: from 1990 to 2020, the urban overall planning of Luoyang has effectively guided the urban development, the urban land expands rapidly, the urban land compaction has been maintained at a low level, and the urban form has been tending to be reasonable; the urban land centroid gradually shifts to the southwest, and the distribution axis rotates clockwise from southwest-northeast to northwest-southeast, and the directionality of distribution gradually disappears; the urban land has gone through the development process of land filling-enlarging-refilling. The urban land expansion is relatively active in the region with an azimuth of 90˚ -225˚, and the urban expansion in the north of Luo River is relatively stable and is always filling mode.","PeriodicalId":68865,"journal":{"name":"地理信息系统(英文)","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70326947","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Over many decades, flood as a hazard has been a major factor in inducing displacement of marginalized section of the people. Austin city within Central Texas has been identified as one of the major hotspots for flooding in recent decades. Thus, the objectives of the paper are two folded: 1) Empirically, we analyzed and mapped out the susceptibility levels from the factors of physical environments to assess the risk of urban flooding (rainfall data, surface water bodies and topography); in Austin, Texas and 2) Methodologically, we created a re-useable ArcGIS scripting tool that can be used by researchers to automate the process of flood risk modelling with certain criteria. The paper showcases a novel time sensitive building of a tool which will enable better visibility of flood within the city of Austin.","PeriodicalId":68865,"journal":{"name":"地理信息系统(英文)","volume":"72 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70327338","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is important to understand the underlying factors of such depletion. To improve knowledge of the changes in groundwater, this study investigates a long-term perspective of urbanization, and evaluates the influence of several factors including land cover, water use, and abstraction. Multi-year land cover maps are used to detect urbanization and land cover types. Hotspot analysis and correlation-regression are applied to assess the relationship between changes in groundwater and the driving factors. The investigations confirm that an extensive withdrawal of groundwater due to urbanization results in a progressive drop in the water level. However, the major industrial and commercial zone shows the consistent hotspot of groundwater depletion. The results indicate that groundwater abstraction and types of water use have a high influence on the changes in urban groundwater.","PeriodicalId":68865,"journal":{"name":"地理信息系统(英文)","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42377454","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

LST is a vital consideration for the appraisal of gradual thermal change for urban areas to examine the strength of the thermal intensity of the surface of urban heat island (SUHI) and to see how hot the surface of the Earth would be in a particular location. In this respect, the most developed urban city like Dhaka Metropolitan Area (DMA), Bangladesh is considered for estimation of LST, and Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) changes trend in more developed and growing developing areas. The focus of this study is to find out the critical hotspot zones for further instantaneous analysis between these two types of areas. The trends of long-term spatial and temporal LST and NDVI are estimated applying Landsat images-Landsat 5-TM and Landsat OLI_TIRS-8 for the period of 1988 to 2018 for DMA and for developed and growing developing areas during the summer season like for the month of March. The supervised classification was used to estimate the land cover categories and to generate the LST trends maps of the different percentiles of LSTs over time using the emissivity and effective at sensor brightness temperature. The study found the change in land cover patterns by different LST groups based on 50th, 75th, and 90th percentile where the maximum LST for the whole DMA went up by 2.48°C, 1.01°C, and 3.76°C for the months of March, April, and May, respectively for the period of 1988 to 2018. The highest difference in LST was found for the most recently developed area. The moderate change of LST increased in the built-up areas where LST was found more sensitive to climate change than the growing developed areas. The vegetation coverage area decreased by 6.74% in the growing, developing areas compared to the developed areas from 1988 to 2018. The findings of the study might be helpful for urban planners and researchers to take up appropriate measures to mitigate the thermal effect on urban environment.","PeriodicalId":68865,"journal":{"name":"地理信息系统(英文)","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43666839","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
