The antenna array consists of 2×8 connected-slot elements, fed coherently with a corporate feeding network. The array is loaded with an artificial dielectric slab with high permittivity, which has the advantage of enhancing the forward radiation without supporting surface waves. The ohmic losses introduced by the metallic inclusions of the ADLs are very low due to the non-resonant nature of the electrically small patches. This powerful approximation technique is easy to implement and the so-approximated problem can then be efficiently solved using off-the-shelf numerical routines. The unit cell is the fundamental building block of a linear array feed to a cylindrical parabolic reflector. The transmit and receive elements are arranged on a triangular grid which provides good isolation between separate transmit and receive modules, obviating the need for circulators. The 2×2 unit cell and associated feed network was implemented in PolyStrata® technology. It is reduced to solution of volume-surface integral equations (VSIE). For approximation of equivalent electric and magnetic currents basis functions based on Rao-Wilton-Glisson (RWG) and Shaubert-Wilton-Glisson (SWG) functions are used. Integral equations are used in a form which unites formulations for different regions. To ensure linear independence of basis functions and absence of artificial charges inside volume elements the spanning tree of the graph representing topology of the mesh is constructed. The antenna is composed of two conventional PIFAs merged together through a common metallic strip and a shorting pin connected to the ground plane. The two L-shaped slots on the ground plane are used to reduce the mutual coupling between the planar antenna elements and the chassis, and to decrease the height of the proposed antenna. Good isolation is obtained in the frequency band of 2.25 ~ 2.6 GHz for IEEE 802.11n wireless local area network (WLAN) application. In [1], a TCDA with integrated balun (TCDA-IB) and substrate loading was presented. In the current paper, we extend this work to a dual-polarization TCDA that scans up to 45°. It exhibits an infinite array bandwidth of 13.5:1 (290MHz-3.9GHz) with an active VSWR<;3 and total efficiency (including reflection) >60% in all planes. The IPA is designed to radiate at a specific elevation angle, while suppressing radiation along the zenith.
