However, location privacy becomes an important issue along with the advantages that LBS offers. In this paper, we first show that, a novel eavesdropper is able to perform position estimation of the agent by purely overhearing the measurement signals between agents and anchors, using a time difference of arrival (TDOA) way. Optimal resource allocation based approaches are presented to protect the location privacy against the eavesdropper. High accuracy approximation algorithms are presented to solve the essential non-convex power optimization problems. According to the numeric results, we can see that, the presented power allocation strategies are able to prevent the eavesdropper performing accurate position estimation of the agent. We can also see that there exists an optimal tradeoff between the system localization performance and privacy protection, which can be achieved by the presented frameworks.","PeriodicalId":6656,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE International Conference on Communications Workshops (ICC Workshops)","volume":"10 1","pages":"1061-1066"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73718327","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The novel beamformers are here optimized for the Expected Weighted Sum Rate (EWSR) for the case of Partial Channel State Information at the Transmitters (CSIT). Gaussian partial CSIT can optimally combine channel estimate and channel covariance information. We introduce the first large system analysis for optimized beamformers with partial CSIT. In the case of Gaussian partial CSIT, the beamformers only depend on the means and covariances of the channels. The large system analysis furthermore allows to predict the EWSR performance on the basis of the channel statistics only.","PeriodicalId":6656,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE International Conference on Communications Workshops (ICC Workshops)","volume":"9 1","pages":"607-611"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87526840","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to allocate radio resource with the reasonable implementation complexity in dense urban intersection, a two-stage allocation algorithm is proposed in this paper, whose main objective is to minimize delay and ensure reliability. In particular, as for the first stage, the allocation policy is based on traffic density information (TDI), which is different from utilizing channel state information (CSI) and queue state information (QSI) in the second stage. Moreover, in order to reflect the influence of TDI on delay, a macroscopic vehicular mobility model is employed in this paper. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can acquire an asymptotically optimal performance with the acceptable complexity.","PeriodicalId":6656,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE International Conference on Communications Workshops (ICC Workshops)","volume":"48 1","pages":"1358-1363"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76505200","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Here, we employ the Poisson point process (PPP)-based abstraction model of massive-antenna base stations (BSs) and mobile terminals (MTs). The loop-back interference (LI) channels in FD mode are modeled using the Rician distribution with arbitrary statistics. All other channels are characterized using the unit-mean Rayleigh distribution, including the cross downlink (DL)-uplink (UL) interference (CI) in FD mode. The useful and interfering signals distributions under different linear conjugate-beamforming (CF) and zero-forcing (ZF) processes are derived. We develop analytical expressions for computing the LSAS DL and UL ergodic rates (ERs) and further study the performance gain of FD versus HD. The results highlight that the corresponding FD over HD ER gain increases logarithmically in the antenna array size. In addition, the anticipated two-fold improvement in ER is analytically shown to be only possible with an asymptotically large number of antennas.","PeriodicalId":6656,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE International Conference on Communications Workshops (ICC Workshops)","volume":"9 1","pages":"743-748"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87608685","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is difficult to predict or mitigate the NLOS errors since they vary from one position to another due to changes in the environment. In this paper, we propose a novel NLOS error mitigation scheme based on the integration of an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) and learning of the application environment. We first propose a location-dependent ranging offset model to characterize the NLOS errors. An iterative algorithm is then proposed to jointly estimate the trajectory of an IMU-equipped mobile node and learn the location-dependent ranging offset model in the application environment. The performance of the proposed scheme is validated experimentally using an indoor positioning system. It is shown that the median positioning error of an IMU-equipped node is reduced by 92% using the proposed algorithm compared with using a conventional real time tracking algorithm. In addition, the real-time positioning error of a mobile node without IMU can be reduced by 86% if the learned ranging offset model is used for NLOS error mitigation.","PeriodicalId":6656,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE International Conference on Communications Workshops (ICC Workshops)","volume":"2 1","pages":"1265-1270"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90633100","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Addressing such foreseen increase in number of connected mobile devices, our work proposes a new trend of on-demand mobile small-cells with caching capabilities for e-Health applications. The solution targets delay-tolerant monitoring e-Health applications, with optional ultra-low latency communications for emergencies. The proposed networking architecture supports user mobile devices acting as small-cells with caching capabilities, for later transmission, when efficient high data rate communication conditions exist. The solution supports immediate high data-rate low-latency transmission for emergency situations. The proposed system enhances the performance of cellular networks, by saving on valuable scarce bandwidth and radio resources, while decreasing interference. Self-organizing networking is used for the further optimization of the network performance. The paper discusses performance gains resulting from mobile small cell deployment.","PeriodicalId":6656,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE International Conference on Communications Workshops (ICC Workshops)","volume":"34 1","pages":"103-108"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89131360","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unfortunately, the RPL storing mode has been found restricted by storage limitations in the routers along the downward path. In fact, unreachable destinations problem may be easily encountered when a router fails, due to lack of memory, to store a routing entry for a target in its associated sub-network. In addition, the under-specification of Downward Advertisement Objects (DAOs) represents another serious issue in RPL. The timing of when and how often DAOs should be emitted is not fully addressed which may lead to inefficient implementations. Motivated by these observations, this paper presents an enhanced version of RPL called Enhanced-RPL. In the proposed enhancement, to mitigate the problem of storage limitation of the node's preferred parent, a node is allowed to distribute prefixes belonging to its sub-network among multiple parents. In addition, a more cautious approach for emitting DAOs is proposed to mitigate the issue of DAOs under-specification mechanisms. Our simulation experiments demonstrate that the proposed Enhanced-RPL outperforms the RPL standard by an average of up to 64% in terms of control-plane overhead and 30% regarding the packet delivery ratio.","PeriodicalId":6656,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE International Conference on Communications Workshops (ICC Workshops)","volume":"73 1","pages":"595-600"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83593762","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Different from those systems studied in the literature where mutually incoherent channels are assumed, we investigate a more practical SMM system with mutually coherent channels. Due to the nonlinear property of the square-law detectors, receiver side MIMO techniques such as decorrelator cannot be applied in such system to null out the crosstalk between subchannels. In order to improve the communication performance, we employ zero-forcing beamforming to eliminate the interchannel interference by using the channel state information at the transmitter. The channel estimation strategy is discussed and two power allocation methods are investigated, i.e., uniform power allocation and optimal power allocation. The average achievable rates of the system under different turbulence conditions are also presented.","PeriodicalId":6656,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE International Conference on Communications Workshops (ICC Workshops)","volume":"15 1","pages":"331-336"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83633993","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In such ultra-dense networks (UDNs), the remarkably high inter-cell interference can reduce or even negate the densification gain. On the other hand, directional communications can significantly bring down the interference levels in UDNs. Hence, it is of importance to evaluate the network performance of UDNs with directional communications. Through Monte Carlo simulations, this paper analyzes the characteristics of coverage probability, area spectral efficiency (ASE), and per-user throughput with respect to extreme network densification. Our simulation results show that directional communications can deliver significantly higher network performance with tens of times higher ASE when compared to non-directional communications in UDNs.","PeriodicalId":6656,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE International Conference on Communications Workshops (ICC Workshops)","volume":"81 1","pages":"522-527"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74475566","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
