The tests were performed at California State University in Long Beach. This information is valuable to develop, test, and validate computer models use for system impact studies by utilities planners and/or researchers. An online simulation is developed as a computer-aided instruction tool and added to curriculum for a power economics course. This simulation may provide engineering students with artificial energy market trading experience that allows for their participation within various `real world' economic market structures. To date no study has examined the impact of power market simulation on students' learning. The purpose of the present study is to fill this gap by examining the effects of simulation on various cognitive learning categories as defined by Bloom and Fink. 9 survey questions were specifically designed for this purpose by following previous studies' recommendations and avoiding the threat of bias. The self-evaluation survey responses showed that simulation has less impact on Synthesis and Caring than any other categories of learning. Such increase in the integration of solar generation has brought attention to the forecasting issues. This paper presents a new approach to tackle the long-term forecasting challenge and accordingly reduce the uncertainty of the PV forecast, which would accordingly help facilitate its integration into the electric power grid. The new method includes a set of pre- and post-processes that will be undertaken before the data is fed to the forecasting model and after the forecast is obtained. Using the proposed method, the historical solar PV radiation data, which is non-stationary, is converted to a set of stationary data which will accordingly allow utilization of a larger set of data for forecasting. New mathematical approaches, such as robust optimization, are commonly adopted to capture uncertainties and ensure practicality. However, this added practicality is at the expense of increased problem size and computational complexity. This paper presents a detailed discussion and analysis of prevailing uncertainties in microgrid operation and planning, and accordingly proposes a new preprocessing approach to integrate uncertainties while reducing computational requirements. Hosting capacity results for 214 study feeders were used to predict a range of hosting capacities for an addition 7929 feeders using clustering techniques. Several methods were explored to try to improve the accuracy for predicting hosting capacity, including increasing the number of clusters, selecting variables that are highly correlated to hosting capacity for clustering, and weighting highly correlated clustering variables. An intrinsic difference between AC and DC is however that the DC conductivity of insulation materials is strongly temperature dependent, while their permittivity varies only weakly with temperature. As a consequence, the resistive field is enhanced where the DC conductivity is at its minimum, i.e. in cold regions of the insulation. Besides, the accumulation of space and surface charges have to be observed as well as the specific load at superposition of impulse voltages. VRES also presents new generation technologies to the traditional grid. These technologies behavior should be studied in depth during grid normal and abnormal conditions. Solar Photovoltaic Generation (SPVG) is a common solar energy applications. Whereas, wind farms of a variable speed wind turbine with a Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) have a great potential among different wind turbine technologies. This paper presents a comparative study between traditional synchronous, SPVG and DFIG responses during substantial power deficiency cases. This study summarizes the main features of each technology frequency behavior. A comprehensive representation of risk component is introduced taking account of not only price fluctuation in each individual market, but also the interconnections of prices between different markets. Beside the key parameters, like partial discharge inception / extinction voltage and partial discharge level in Pico-coulomb, one of the most important parameter is the point of localization along the cable. Without exact localization even the interpretation of the key parameters could lead to wrong conclusions. However even when the PD is localized additional information about the type of defect would be very helpful in addressing the severity of the detected defect. Does the PD weak spot need to be replaced directly, or can the cable be safely energized and the replacement of the defective component can be scheduled on a later time period. This paper goes into detail to PD localization, PRPD patterns and finally localized PRPD patterns.
