While Intel was building processors for the PCs and servers, ARM was concentrated on the handheld devices. Nowadays, with no hard limits in computing power between the different sizes of devices, ARM and Intel-based microprocessors are competitors. In this paper, a comparative study is done to evaluate the performance of the two microprocessors. Both, the in-order and the out-of-order, CPU models are used within each architecture, and four performance metrics (total consumed energy, throughput, average cycles per instruction (CPI), and L2 cache miss rate) are used to evaluate the work. The well-known computer architecture simulator, Gem5, is used to accomplish the work. The variation of overvoltage amplitude in neutral bus which is in the ground short circuit fault and valve triggering pulse loss fault situation is calculated and analyzed under different impact capacitor configuration schemes. The calculation results showed: installing impact capacitor can significantly reduce the overvoltage level in the neutral Bus of the converter station; and the more the capacity of the impact capacitor increased, the more obvious the suppression effect is; The impact capacitor has a restraining effect on the overvoltage of the neutral bus only when it is on the same side with the bus. A disturbance observer is designed to estimate the system uncertainties in real time and a sliding mode controller that is designed with the output information of the disturbance observer is employed to control the output voltage of the DC-AC inverter, a fuzzy system is used to approximate the upper bound of the observation error between the actual disturbance and its observation value in order to improve the performance of the control system. The inverter has strong robustness since the disturbances can be adaptively compensated and the chattering is greatly reduced since the switching gain can be very small for the upper bound of observation error is estimated by the fuzzy system. The input and the output stages of FD-VDCCC consist of a fully differential operational transconductance amplifier and a current controlled differential voltage current conveyor, respectively. The FD-VDCCC can be adjusted by bias currents. The proposed active element has not only various differential voltage and current input terminals but also various voltage and current output terminals. Hence, the proposed active element complies with current mode or mixed mode circuit designs. In the study, in order to demonstrate the functionality of the considered structure, FD-VDCCC based current controlled universal filter is proposed. As part of a solution for an intelligent home, the thermostat needs to behave in a way that controls the heating system to save the energy by providing automatic adjustments. In this paper, an IoT based smart thermostat is designed and implemented. The nodes in the system consist of DHT22 temperature sensors connected to Arduinos and communicating with each other through nRF24L01 modules. The sink node uses an ESP8266 to the Internet. The system can interact with authorized family members through a mobile application by sending push notifications. They also can adjust the home heating settings via this application. In this way, the system can intelligently turn the heating system on or off considering the availability of people at home. The miniaturized filter operating at 2.45 GHz is designed and implemented on a double-layer PCB substrate with metallic vias embedded in the lower substrate layer to provide the slow-wave effect. Based on this concept, a 41% size miniaturization is achieved as compared to conventional microstrip filter prototype. Teflon rectangular parallelepiped is used as a dielectric material where Yagi array is placed for horn feeding purpose. Directors' length, position, separation, and their number are chosen carefully to obtain a high gain, suitable 3 dB beamwidth, and suitable side lobe level as compared to conventional one. The proposed pyramidal horn antenna achieves a simulated gain, 3 dB beamwidth, and side lobe level of 13.8 dBi, 37.4 degrees, and -26.3 dB at 4.86 GHz, respectively. The proposed antenna is mainly designed for breast cancer hyperthermia therapy where narrow beamwidth, low side lobe level, and high gain are essentially requisites. For verification purpose, the proposed antenna irradiate a breast phantom for 10 minutes and with 2 watt at its input port. The breast phantom temperature is elevated 4 degrees above normal temperature. In fact, the technological improvements push the Si MOSFETs to their theoretical bound that limit power density of the power converters. The GaN High Electron Mobility Transistor (HEMT) is one of the most promising alternative to the conventional Si MOSFETs. In this paper, GaN HEMT devices are analyzed and compared to Si MOSFET devices. The design considerations and complexities are covered by indicating the electrical characteristics of GaN HEMT devices. Furthermore, in order to evaluate the benefits and disadvantages of the GaN HEMT; an active clamp forward converter is designed. However, nowadays the demand side management sources have taken attention due to economic and environmental constraints. Normally, reliable electricity supply to customer can be maintained by either increasing the network capacity (supply side management) or reducing the peak electricity demand on the network (demand side management) but reducing electricity consumption within demand side management rather than increasing network capacity provides operational and financial benefits to countries. Demand response in the residential sector can plan an important role in reducing peak demand. For this reason, in this study, load management system was carried out in order to analyze effects of demand response for residential area using Matlab/Simulink. Some residential loads were shifted to off- peak hours using load management system in order to reduce peak demand and electricity bill saving which can be gained through energy management system was analyzed on consumers.
