Thus, it is necessary to search for means to reduce and reuse these residues. Brazil is the largest coffee producer and exporter worldwide, with this being one of the main products in the consumer market, at a production of 30 million sacks per year. Coffee production generates large amounts of by-products, such as husks. Therefore, the reuse of this residue is a good alternative for its disposal. In view of this fact, partial sand substitution by coffee husks in concrete production was evaluated, in order to reduce sand use in concrete manufacturing. For specimen production, traits were formulated by replacing sand by coffee husks at 5%. A 0.5:0.5:1:0.5 (gravel:sand:cement:water) ratio was considered for specimen preparation. To evaluate mechanical compressive strength, assays were performed after 7, 14, 21 and 28 days, using a hydraulic press with 80 MPa capacity. Partial sand substitution by the coffee residue was considered satisfactory, obtaining a compressive strength of ± 20 MPa, higher than the resistance obtained for the concrete produced without sand replacement. Coffee husk use did not compromise material resistance.","PeriodicalId":58493,"journal":{"name":"环境科学与工程:B","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42566197","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In 2016, thousands of Hhs (Households) in these coastal provinces were at risk due to severe drought and saline intrusion. This study applied the LVI (Livelihood Vulnerability Index) to estimate saline intrusion vulnerability of those two provinces. Data on socio-demographics, livelihoods, health, social networks, physical, financial and natural resources, natural disasters and climate variability were collected from a survey of 298 Hhs. From these data, the LVI of each coastal province was calculated. Results show that the overall LVI of KG province is higher than that of ST province. The analysis revealed that this practical method can be applied in different circumstances of climate change and purposes.","PeriodicalId":58493,"journal":{"name":"环境科学与工程:B","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46130768","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this, it adopted an action-research methodology based on interviews with stakeholders that work directly in the sector. Eighteen actors were contacted among researchers, experts and entrepreneurs, of which ten gave face-to-face interviews, with open questionnaires, semi-structured. From the analysis of these data, and from a vast theoretical framework, the article delimits biomass as a pillar of bioeconomics and points out the emerging trends of this science such as “green chemistry” and biotechnology. This is a field that condenses an important economic potential and a great capacity to develop mechanisms for the environment’s preservation. By analyzing the production chain and its interfaces, the article reveals that Brazil, although it has an undeniable capacity to emerge as a world protagonist in sustainable production, still lacks well-defined public policies that invest in innovation, in addition to the consumer culture’s transformation, production and economic development focused on non-renewable products.","PeriodicalId":58493,"journal":{"name":"环境科学与工程:B","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49639210","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, PS (PlanetScope) imagery was combined with field sampling to demonstrate the capability of mapping of SAV (Submerge Aquatic Vegetation) (including both SW and SG (Seagrass) beds) and biomass mapping of Sargassum meadows in An Chan coastal waters, Tuy An district, Phu Yen province, Vietnam. In term of SAV and Sargassum mapping, authors proposed an improved remote sensing technique based on Sagawa’s BRI (Bottom Reflectance Index) algorithm with attention to Tassan’s concept in discrimination of light attenuation coefficient Kd between shallow and deep waters. Authors’ results showed high accuracy in mapping of SAV and Sargassum distribution with overall accuracy and Kappa coefficient of 92.52% and 0.8957, respectively. The classified class of SW (i.e. Sargassum sp.) then was separated absolutely from other classes in SAV map for estimation of Sargassum biomass. The red and green spectral pre-processed BRI channels (i.e. BRI3 and BRI2) of PS were used to estimate the Sargassum biomass using a multiple 2nd order polynomial regression model with very high accuracy (R = 0.9707; RMSE = 109.21 g/m). The average total Sargassum biomass was 897.8 g/m with total Sargassum yield in whole region reaching a value of 449.57 tons in cover area of 50.32 ha of Sargassum meadows. This result opens the great potential of biomass and yield estimation of Sargassum and other SW meadows in coastal waters (including enough optically deep waters) by remote sensing techniques based on PS imagery.","PeriodicalId":58493,"journal":{"name":"环境科学与工程:B","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-03-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44978964","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Given its relevance in the economy and in society, it is fundamental to align its activities with the optimal use of resources and the regeneration and restoration of the natural system in agreement with the premises set by the Circular Economy (CE). The main interest of this work was, through a systematic literature review, to identify in the revised studies how the wine sector has incorporated the premises of CE in its activities. Six topics define the concerns addressed: water, solid waste, energy, chemical use, land use and ecosystems, in different parts of the chain: viticulture, winemaking and distribution. From the evaluation of 41 selected empirical studies, no clear definition regarding CE was found; however, the detailed analysis reveals aspects which incorporate CE practices such as the reduction of waste disposal by its treatment and recovery, the best use of resources at all stages of the process chain and the need to rethink and redesign current practices. The specific subjects identified were waste recovery, alternative energy sources such as biofuels production and water quality improvement. Land use, ecosystem impacts, and use of agrochemicals were not considered.","PeriodicalId":58493,"journal":{"name":"环境科学与工程:B","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-03-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48314615","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
