Bayezid’e (salt. 1481-1512) eser ithaf eden bir âlim olan Alâaddîn el-Kirmânî’nin hayatı hakkında fazla malumata sahip olmamakla birlikte eserleri üzerinden düşüncesini ele alma imkânına sahibiz. Dolayısıyla bu makale Kirmânî’nin üç eseri üzerinden nefs ve nefs-beden ilişkisine dair düşüncesinin gelişimini incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Başlangıçta rüya tabiri ilmini mevzu, mesâil ve mebâdîsini belirlemek suretiyle müdevven bir ilim haline getirmeyi amaçlayan Kirmânî, bu konuda telif ettiği el-ʿAşeratü’l-kâmile ile Levâmiʿu tenvîri’l-makâm fî cevâmiʿi taʿbîri’l-menâm adlı iki eserinde rüya tabiri ilminin mevzusu olarak İbn Sînâcı nefs anlayışını merkeze almıştır. Fakat aynı zamanda mensubu olduğu Ekberî geleneğin metodolojisini de eserlerinde İbn Sînâcı nefs anlayışıyla mezcetmiştir. Diğer taraftan Mesele min ilmi marifeti’n-nefs adlı risalesi onun “nefs-bedenin tek bir şey olduğunu” iddia ettiği -ve Kirmânî’nin yeni tespit edilen bir eseri olması bakımından makalenin ek kısmında tahkiğine de yer verdiğimiz- en dikkat çekici eseri olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Zira Kirmânî risalede nefs ve bedenin soyut olma ve cisim olma şeklinde iki itibarla tek bir şey olduğunu zikretmek suretiyle Ekberî ayân-ı sabite, ruhlar âlemi ve duyulur âlem ayrımına dayalı varlık anlayışını İbn Sînâcı nefs-beden düalizmine uygulamaktadır. Bu sayede nefs ve bedenin mahiyetinden kaynaklanan güçlükleri çözmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Makalede Kirmânî’nin yukarıda mezkur eserlerindeki nefs görüşü, tedricî değişimini/gelişimini gösterebilmek için -gerçek telif sıralaması bilinmediğinden- içerik ve üsluba dayalı muhtemel telif sıralamasına göre incelenmiştir. Bununla birlikte onun nefse dair meşşâî çizgideki görüşleri İbn Sînâ ile, özgün nefs görüşü ise İbn Arabî-Molla Câmî’nin görüşleriyle mukayese edilmiştir. That Palestinians, as a native population, could claim the same right has been largely ignored. Kathleen Christison's controversial new book shows how the endurance of such assumptions, along with America's singular focus on Israel and general ignorance of the Palestinian point of view, has impeded a resolution to the Arab-Israeli conflict. Christison begins with the derogatory images of Arabs purveyed by Western travelers to the Middle East in the nineteenth century, including Mark Twain, who wrote that Palestine's inhabitants were 'abject beggars by nature, instinct, and education'. She demonstrates other elements that have influenced U.S. policymakers: American religious attitudes toward the Holy Land that legitimize the Jewish presence; sympathy for Jews derived from the Holocaust; and, a sense of cultural identity wherein Israelis are 'like us' and Arabs distant aliens. She makes a forceful case that decades of negative portrayals of Palestinians have distorted U.S. policy, making it virtually impossible to promote resolutions based on equality and reciprocity between Palestinians and Israelis. Christison also challenges prevalent media images and emphasizes the importance of terminology: Two examples are the designation of who is a 'terrorist' and the imposition of place names (which can pass judgment on ownership).
