The Fellow designation from a professional nursing organization is a culmination of continuous service, commitment, and meaningful contributions to the organization and to the associated specialty. The Fellow designation is the most distinguished and highest level of membership in an organization, recognizing professional leaders who have considerably contributed to their field and achieved notable accomplishments. The National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses (NAON) established the designation and the conferred credential, Fellow of NAON (FNAON) in 2022 to recognize nurses who have made significant contributions to orthopaedic nursing. In recent years, researchers have explored the possible effects of psychological resilience on illness and treatment. This descriptive study investigated the effect of preoperative psychological resilience on postoperative pain. The sample consisted of 150 orthopaedic surgical patients. Data were collected using the Brief Resilience Scale (BRS) and the Brief Pain Inventory. The results showed negative correlations between BRS and BRS subscale scores. Our results provide evidence regarding the relationship between resilience and postoperative pain. Healthcare professionals should actively promote the cultivation of resilience among patients during the perioperative period as a means to assist them in effectively managing postoperative pain.</p>","PeriodicalId":56102,"journal":{"name":"Orthopaedic Nursing","volume":"44 3","pages":"175-183"},"PeriodicalIF":0.8,"publicationDate":"2025-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"144227773","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to highlight measures taken by orthopaedic healthcare organizations to fulfill the 2024 Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) screening requirements. Survey questions were developed and distributed in collaboration with the National Association for Orthopaedic Nurses to assess organizational responses to the requirements. On average, participants rated their institutions' preparedness to screen for SDOH as 3.21, with 30% of respondents ranking their preparedness as a 1 or 2 (5 being \"very prepared\" and 1 being \"not prepared at all\"). Organizations should consider developing a written action plan to screen for and address SDOH. They should also consider integrating workflows into the electronic medical record to facilitate easier screening and increase communication between hospital administration and nursing staff surrounding these new requirements.</p>","PeriodicalId":56102,"journal":{"name":"Orthopaedic Nursing","volume":"44 3","pages":"184-192"},"PeriodicalIF":0.8,"publicationDate":"2025-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"144227769","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
